Fleek – Is that word still cool? Was it ever?
I’m calling this week “7.5” because I didn’t plan on it being a full week of training. We will leave of the airport early tomorrow morning and be off on our Peru adventure!
Monday I did a lower body lift and a 5 mile progression. I normally do speed or tempo runs on Mondays, but my legs were feeling a little beat up from Sunday. I decided to play it safe. My splits were: 8:55/8:38/8:11/8:00/7:44 – total of 5 miles at 8:18 average.
Tuesday I did a 3000 meter swim. I am really really trying to do the front crawl the whole time (as opposed to the breast stroke, which is way easier for me). I did the front crawl 90% of the time this day, and it took my forever. My arms, chest and back were really sore after!
I decided to get my long run done on Wednesday. I wanted to get a run in the “teens” done before we left. I didn’t want to do it on Friday and potentially have sore legs for traveling and walking around on Saturday. So that meant lacing up and hopping on the treadmill at zero dark thirty for about two hours. I know people say they hate long runs on the treadmill, but I find it kind of nice. Almost like meditating. 15 miles at 8:34 average.
Thursday I swam for 2000 meters, did 3 recovery miles at 9:00 avg, and then did a full body lift. This was all a bit of a sufferfest. Not that anything was actually in pain. I just wanted to quit the whole time. The swim was hard and slow, I felt bored on the run, and everything felt inordinately heavy during my lift. When this happens – I just take one thing at a time and go through the motions. I really feel like the workouts that are mentally hard are good practice for when the race starts to hurt.
This was one of the songs I listened to to get me through the run. Hence the title of this post. Words like “fleek” and saying “its lit fam” and “slay queen” make me feel so old hahaha.
This morning I did a progression run that was 7 miles at 7:18 average. Finished with a lower body lift on tired legs. 30 miles to cap off the week.
I got some fun race pictures from this weekend! I liked how they got shots of everyone going over the finish line this way.
What? You don’t look for and smile at the photographers?
“Don’t trip, don’t trip, don’t trip”
I got this cold brew coffee from whole foods. Yes, I know that they brewed coffee, and made it cold and sold it to me. But the bottle is cool. Shut up.
I have also rediscovered my love of these gummy peach rings. Why are they so addictive?!
SO excited about this popcorn. There is a “not light” version that I have always loved and can’t stop eating. This tastes exactly the same and it is only about 130 calories (18 carb/5 fat) for 1 oz – which is a lot.
I wanted to get some easy and compact make up for the trip. Ever since I learned how to fill in my eyebrows, I think it makes my face look so much better. If I just do that and a little foundation, I’m pretty much good to go. I found this Benefit brow pencil, which is awesome and makes it super easy and fast. I also loved this all one bronzer/blush/highlight from Urban Decay.
P.S. – Jaclyn Hill make up tutorials are the BEST. I learned eyebrows from this video and eyeliner from this one. All her recommendations are spot on, and she offers drug store dupes for a lot of the more expensive products she recommends.
I just got a pair of Oofos and WOW they are comfy! I 100% know John is going to make fun of them, but I don’t care. They are rubber, so I can wear them to/from the pool, and they make my feet super happy. With all the foot issues these days, I didn’t have any problem spending $60. You can read my friend Kindal’s review of them here.
My latest favorite go to dinner is zoodles (zucchini noodles), mixed with Barilla Protein Plus pasta, and pesto. So so good!! If I have left over steak or chicken, I throw it in there too. I like adding the zucchini to the pasta because it doubles the amount of food I get to eat and it sneaks in a vegetable.
I got my zoodler thingy here and it is AWESOME. It is super easy to use and even easier to clean.
It is going to be Bennie’s 7th birthday when I am in Peru, so you know I had to celebrate with him before I left. I am going to miss him so so much!!
Do you celebrate your pet’s birthdays?
What is your favorite easy go to dinner?
