If you ever get to visit Chico make sure you walk through the Chico State campus! It is beautiful. It was eerie that there was not a single student around because of winter break, but it also made it a lot more fun to have the run of the campus!
Bennie definitely made out like a bandit on Christmas. He got more toys and treats than he knew what to do with. He played and ate and then had a huge nap. Just like it should be.
Christmas morning my dad & I both had a run to do. I figured we’d get up, do the Christmas morning thing, and then I’d sneak in my run later in the day. But we also wanted to do mimosas in the morning, and my mom & John knew I wouldn’t drink before I ran. So they told me to knock out the run first thing in the morning and then we’d have mimosas with breakfast after. It meant so much to me that they were supportive of me going to run. It was even more special that I got to run with my dad.
What I Ate in a Day on Christmas!
Before I ran, and then when I came back, I had coffee with 2% milk and Vital Proteins collagen.
We have a Christmas morning tradition of smoked salmon bagels – so that + a mimosa was breakfast!
I couldn’t resist a giant peanut butter cup from my stocking. When else can you eat candy before 9am besides Christmas!? I didn’t really plan on eating the whole thing – but YOLO. It was delicious.
A few hours later I made a big egg white omelet with some fruit and veggies. I was craving some real food and wanted to load up on protein so I could enjoy all the goodies.
For a snack later in the afternoon, I had a couple handfuls of trail mix.
Before dinner we played Mexican train dominos – which John & I got for Christmas from my parents. Such a fun game!
Dinner was salad with crab & sourdough bread. Another Christmas tradition. I had a HUGE pile of delicious crab. And wine. Duh.
For dessert I made Run Fast Eat Slow berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I could eat this stuff for every meal.
I definitely indulged more on Christmas than I would on a normal day – mimosa, peanut butter cup directly after breakfast, 2 glasses of wine, lots of bread, ect ect. But I never felt so full I was sick and I never really felt hungry either. I just ate what I wanted and stopped when I was full and enjoyed all of it. It was a great feeling. For years holidays were so hard for me. All the delicious food that is only around once a year and trying to undereat all day to “save it up for it later.”
Bennie The Dog wasn’t thrilled with the car ride home the next day, but we all got through it safely and are back home in our routines!
