If you remember my Thankful Thursday post last week, I was struggling with jeans. I promised to share some jeans I like, so here we are! All the outfits are linked right below the photo.
These “Whisper” tees from Madewell are the perfect tees. They are super soft and come in a ton of colors. A great pair of black jeans is a staple for me as well. Paige Denim has come out with their “transcend” fabric that is pretty much the best thing since pizza. It holds its shape and doesn’t stretch out over the course of a day. I have had these Vans for pretty long time now and am still loving them. My necklace is sold out everywhere, but I found it on the Gorjana website and it is well worth the money in my opinion. It layers perfectly with my Erica Sara marathon necklaces, and it is good quality. I like that is has some weight to it without being so heavy that it makes my neck ache.
These button up shirts from Rails are MY FAVORITE item in my closet. I have been slowly collecting new colors and I love each one more. I love them with jeans, denim shorts, tucked into a pencil skirt, and even with leggings and a long tank and tall boots.
For shoes or handbags with suede on them, I use a spray protectant before wearing them out where they might be wet or dirty. I just got mine off Amazon.
I think these jeans are one of my favorite pairs I’ve ever owned. My quads are no joke, and these jeans fit them perfectly, while not being too big in the waist or the booty. The other thing I struggle with when finding skinny jeans is that sometimes my calves feel like they are being suffocated. I like that these have a more relaxed fit around the ankle so I can cuff them a bit.
I like the sloppy cuff look 🙂
DL 1961 calls this their “instasculpt” jean. I think mostly that just means they are stretchy in all the right places and kind of feel like the hug your curves. Or whatever. They were super soft and I like the dark wash with no feather for work events.
Let’s talk about these shoes!! What the what! They are so comfortable. I love the slit in the side on the leather and I love the perforated fronts (not unlike my Vans, linked above). I thought about getting black, because that’s the default color I purchase almost everything in, and I’m so glad I didn’t.
Can’t get enough. I used the same spray protectant as I did on the tennis shoes on these too.
While we are talking about jeans, with dark jeans you need to make sure to wash them the right way so they don’t lose their color. A lot of the “premium” denim brands have dye that will bleed onto light colored chairs, bags, ect. I have a not so fond memory of a red tank top and my first pair of Lucky jeans – luckily Nordstrom is the best company ever and made it right. I digress – when you first get the jeans, bring them straight home, turn them inside out, and wash them alone (or with other pairs of jeans) with your normal detergent and 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar. Something about the vinegar locks in the color. You want to make sure to do this prior to getting any alterations done as well.
Lastly, I know all these jeans were on the pricier side. I save up my Nordstrom notes from using my credit card (they are like a $20 gift certificate) and put them towards a new pair. My other favorite jeans under $80 are Articles of Society. I get them from Nordstrom – I don’t know if they are other places – but they are AWESOME. I got this pair of their white jeans for summer since I so rarely wear white jeans – I can’t justify an expensive pair.
