I have been loving blog posts lately of how different people fit their routines into their daily life. There are so many things to accomplish each day, so it is always fun to get a new perspective on how someone else does it.
Here is what a normal day looks like for me (warning – it starts early….):
3:30AM – I said it started early! My alarm goes off and I am usually at the gym or running with a headlamp by 4am. I work out at 24 hour fitness, bless them for being open at such an ungodly hour. I am 100% a morning person & not productive in the evenings AT ALL. I like to get my work out done and have the day ahead free. I have been working out in the morning for years and honestly do love it. Probably there is something wrong with me, whatever.
5:30AM – Leaving the gym to come home and shower.
6:00AM – Home, showered, bed made & trying to get my dog out of bed to feed him.
6:00-6:30AM – Quiet time with coffee & breakfast, news on, reading emails and catching up on blogs I like and social media.
6:30 – 7:00AM – dry my hair, put on a little make up, pack my food for the day, pick out my outfit for work. This usually gets jammed into 15 minutes, and the hair and makeup get sacrificed sometimes, but I AIM to start doing it sooner.
7:00-7:30AM – Bundle up Bennie (and myself) for a dog walk. I usually call my mom while I’m walking so we can catch up on each other’s lives.
After I come back from the dog walk, I get ready for work. Some days I drive to our office, about 15 minutes away from my house. Other days I drive about an hour to different real estate offices I work with. I am an insurance advisor, so I help the realtors get insurance for their clients buying new homes. I present to their offices during their sales meetings. It is a really fun part of my job and keeps me on my toes.
9:00AM – I usually eat a snack about this time. If I’m driving, it is something like a Quest bar, Powercrunch bar, ect. If I am in the office, it is usually peanut butter toast, rice cakes, or yogurt. At this point I also start guzzling water & peppermint tea (herbal – non caffeinated). I run cold and like drinking something hot to keep me warm.
Around noon, I will stop for lunch. Even if I eat at my desk and I read a magazine or something for 5 minutes. I love big salads for lunch, or chicken stir fry with broccoli and rice.
More working until 3pm – when I am usually hungry again HAHA! Eating all day is a running theme. Again, something quick and easy like a Quest bar, yogurt with granola, ect.
Once I’m wrapped up with work for the day, I come home and walk Bennie again. I try to plan out my food the day before, so I will swing by the grocery store if I need to on my way home. If it is planned out, less room for errors – either I forget to eat and am a wreck by the end of the day OR the other extreme – I eat all the bad for you things in sight.
I also greatly enjoy cooking and like to make a big production out of dinner. Of course there are nights when I just want something easy and don’t feel like cooking. That said, my food is more satisfying when I prepare & plate it, and it is (sometimes) fun to try out new recipes. I make a lot of sweet potatoes and grill often.
It’s usually about 7:30PM by this point. After dinner, I usually stretch and foam roll while I watch TV. I’ll usually go through my emails one more time before bed to make sure there is nothing pressing that I need to deal with in the morning before getting in my car to drive to the next day’s meeting. One of my worst habits is checking my emails while sitting in traffic – and checking in the night before helps alleviate that.
I try to go to bed early since I get up so early. I am lucky in that I don’t seem to need a lot of sleep. Still, more sleep is never a bad thing ha!
What is your daily routine? How do you fit it all in?
