Oh I am so ready for a swim day and a glass of wine HAHA! My ankles and legs have been feeling very fatigued this week. Not in a bad way necessarily, but more like I haven’t lifted consistently throughout the Chicago taper/reverse taper, Canyon City taper/reverse taper, and Thanksgiving. Now that I’ve got a couple solid weeks of lifting in, OW.
Anyway – here are the things I’m loving right now:
My mom found me pop up Christmas cards last year to send to people who I didn’t want to get a whole big gift, but who I wanted to send something tangible to. They are AWESOME and have been very well received! You can get them here and here.
This blush from MAC in Springsheen is my new obsession. I feel like blush doesn’t do all the stuff I want it to – it want it to be pink, but not pink, orangey but not orange, shimmery, but not shiny. This blush does all of that! It makes me so happy every time I put it on.
I am super excited to be a part of the Run Gum Squad for 2017! To give you a little background info on Run Gum, I thought their website said it best, “Our energy gum is packed with caffeine, taurine, and b-vitamins, similar to many energy drinks and energy shots, only you don’t need to put anything in your stomach. Plus, since our caffeine is delivered as gum, it enters your system faster than drinks, shots or gels. This means Run Gum gives you a quicker boost of energy when you need it the most.” You can use code DECSQUAD17 to get 15% off if you want to give it a try.
Kind Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate bars have also been in my recent rotation. I got one as a sample in a race goodie bag and loved it. They are a good craving kicker and actually keep me full between meals! If they are good enough for Shalane Flanagan, they are good enough for me!
Hot tea is my other big time obsession lately. I am cold all the time, and especially in the winter. When I work from home, it can also be really hard to not snack out of boredom. My dad got me an electric kettle a long time ago and I use it almost daily, if not multiple times a day in the winter. This one is pretty similar to mine.
This jacket is the warmest thing ever. It is a 3 in one jacket which is genius as well. When John & I go to Alaska for Christmas, and it is ONE degree or colder, this is what I will be wearing.
Trust me, I am well aware 45 degrees is nothing compared with what my Midwest folks are dealing with!
And lastly, this video about a 104 year old man, the oldest known Pearl Harbor survivor, is amazing. He became a gym rat to get strong enough to fly back to Hawaii. He put on 20 pounds of muscle in his 100s!!! The human body is so amazing. As we age, loss of muscle is the biggest thing that slows down your metabolism and that means that you don’t get to eat as much food!! So get in the gym and lift people! It will make you a strong runner who gets to eat more. Win freaking win.
I have a “long run” of an hour and 20 minutes tomorrow and I’m so excited. It might be raining and I love running in a light rain. And did I mention that glass of wine?
What are you doing this weekend?
Do you like running in the rain? Or do you prefer to treadmill when it is raining?
