We made it through the week!
Side note – I personally feel that McDonald’s has the best chicken nuggets and Burger King has the best fries. I really wish they could get along and sell them together for the greater good.
I digress! Here is what I am loving this week.
1. The Knockout High Rise Tight by Victoria’s Secret sport: I got these tights because VS had a deal going on where if you ordered a sports bra, you got a pair of leggings for free. I love their sports bras, so I figured it was a good deal. I wasn’t expecting to love the tights, but I did! I will say Lululemon still wins on fit/booty flattery. The high waisted legs gapped a bit in the waist when I was doing squats, but they were still super comfortable and flattering. I used to hate high waisted things, but I am slowly starting to like higher waisted leggings.2. Audible: Audible is audio books on an app for your phone. The account is through Amazon, and it is $14.95 a month (much better than buying the CDs for $30-50 each and only listening to them once). I really like listening to audio books in my car and while I am doing easy paced runs. Something about fast paced music makes me want to run fast, yanno?
3. Yes Please, by Amy Poehler: To dovetail off the Audible thing, this book was hilarious to listen to on audio book. I love her TV show, Parks & Rec, and she is just as funny while reading the book. Now that I know the extra little funny things she does while reading out loud – I would actually recommend the audio book over reading a paperback/eBook.
4. Stir Fry recipe: I tried out this stir fry recipe last night and it was really easy and delicious. It got the stamp of approval from the boyfriend as well. The recipe called for shrimp, but I used chicken, because it is less expensive. Making the sauce yourself helps keep the sodium under control. I know runners need salt, but most stir fry sauces have 580mg of sodium for like….ONE tablespoon. Yikes. The other good thing about stir fry is that it is easy to modify for any dietary goals/restrictions. For example, I’m lower mileage right now and working on leaning out a bit – so I just nixed the rice and had more meat & veggies. John had it with brown rice – and you could also make it with noodles, zoodles, quinoa, ect. You get the idea.
5. Road ID: I’ve been using road ID since last December. As a safety thing, it is great. We should all have an easily visible way for someone to contact help while running. Aside from that, I also like having my loved ones “with me” while I’m running or racing. Sometimes you are nervous before a race and it is nice to look down and remember that there is someone out there willing to come get your collapsed body in the event that happens HAHA! This month they have really cute badges you can buy for Valentine’s day and such.
I’m also trying something new this month – Eggwhites 24/7. Due to avian flu in CA, the grocery stores keeping hanging up signs like this next to the eggs and egg whites:
Now, I could just buy eggs and crack them for the whites. BUT – A) They are super expensive for the same reason as the egg whites being out of stock. It is $8-9 for a dozen eggs. B) That feels super wasteful. If I am eating 6 egg whites a day, that’s 6 egg yellows I’m throwing away.
The liquid egg whites aren’t out of stock yet, but they are also going up in price. It is almost $7 for a half gallon. So when John found Eggwhites 24/7, I thought it would be worth a try. I got four 64oz containers for $44 and the shipping is FREE. They shipped super fast and arrived right away.
I just got them yesterday – to TBA on how they taste/cook. They are just normal, pure, egg whites, so theoretically, they should be fine. The website markets them as both for drinking straight and cooking with. I will not be drinking them straight – just to be clear.
What are you loving this week?
