You guys its finally Friday! Considering I spent all of Wednesday thinking Friday was the next day, I’m pretty excited it is here. I am going to snuggle my doggy, do some grilling, go for a long run, and make the Acai Bowl that I posted about yesterday. Maybe eat some pizza. I wish that I could spend it with my mommy for mother’s day – but luckily we get to see each other pretty often. I sent her a mother’s day care package to try and make up for it. Too bad Bennie and I couldn’t have hopped in the box. Don’t worry, she already opened said box, so I’m not ruining the surprise. I get my patience from her. Hahahaha! Hi Mom!!
She is truly the best, most majestic, kind, funny, kickass, smart, strong, supportive, loyal best friend.
This week this tote that converts into a backpack saved my back. I walk between my meetings in San Francisco, and toting along my work laptop makes my bag super heavy. When I saw this bag, it was the answer to my prayers! You know how your hair gets stuck in your bag shoulder strap and it is just miserable? Yeah, no. Also, sorry for the crappy bathroom lighting. Not sorry enough to retake the pictures. So here we are.
I tried these lime flavored chips from Siete Foods the other day when I got lunch at Whole Foods and was wanting something salty. YUM. I noticed after they are “grain free” for people with gluten sensitivity, which wasn’t why I bought them, but that is nice if that is something you struggle with! Mostly they have very few ingredients and that lime seasoning is a win.
This leave in spray has been saving my hair lately. I am trying to take a break from blow drying as much as possible, and this leaves my hair soft and smooth without being weighed down. Lately my hair has also become super tangly, so this is helpful for brushing out after. I remember being a little kid and fighting so much with my mom about brushing my hair. I wouldn’t let anyone brush it, but I also didn’t want to cut it. Because logic. Thank you, mom, for not shaving my head in a black out frustration rage which I can only imagine having.
I always try to wear a hat, but if you forget, or don’t want to wear one for some reason – don’t forget to protect your scalp where your hair is parted! I tap some of this powered sunscreen into my hairline and along my part and it really helps protect the skin. Part is a weird word.
And don’t forget your lips either! Sunburned lips are one of the worst things ever! Why you ask? Because when you go to drink your recovery margarita after your long run, the salt on the rim is going to burn like a b***h. #athlete. I love this Butterstick Lip Treatment from Kiehl’s.
Let’s be real – this is one the we all fear. Of course we know skin cancer is a big bad scary thing, but somehow chafing is scarier to the average person. I’m not saying its right, I’m just saying it is an observations. Nothing hurts worse than shower after that tag on your shirt rubbing in just the wrong way for two hours. This skin barrier from Zealios is crazy good. It stayed on when I was dumping water on myself at Boston, lasts through extreme heat, and is also somehow vegan. The fact that it is vegan implies that it is not made with unicorn dust, but I can’t image what else is in it. I get it from Amazon.
Although chafing may be the thing we runners fear the most, bugs are more dangerous. Make sure you are wearing protection from ticks, especially if you are running on trails or taking your dogs out in tall grass. This page from the CDC is very helpful. And even if you are wearing bug spray, make sure to check your clothes and pets for ticks. Get a tick checking buddy. Do whatever you gotta do.
And I will leave you with that. You are welcome everyone! And happy freaking Friday!
