This week has been a whirlwind, but in the best of ways. I am excited about running Bay to Breakers this weekend as well! I quite the enjoy the tradition of it. I do not enjoy that some people feel the need to run naked. And not the body love/body positivity kind of empowered nakedness. Just obnoxious nakedness. Compression fabric was created for a reason. Let’s embrace that. One of the fun traditions is throwing tortillas in the start corrals. I do not know why its done. It just is. I kind of like not knowing anyway. If you would like to read my race recap from last year, you can find it here.
Let’s get on with my favorites:
1 – Bee pollen. I’m so cutting edge, I know. I had a really tasty acai bowl at Basik Cafe in San Francisco, and it had bee pollen on it. While the image below is a terrible food photo and any self respecting food blogger would never allow it, I am a running blogger – and I do what I want. The bee pollen is kind of crunchy and sweet and delicious. Just another fun texture and flavor to add to oatmeal.
There are a lot of “possible” health benefits to bee pollen. You can read about all the positives and negatives to bee pollen here, as we all know that WebMD is the place to read all terrifying things on the internet. To be honest, I’m interested in it for the crunch and sweetness.
2 – One of my favorite run views in San Francisco. It is worth a trip down the Embarcadero.
3 – This blog from a guest post on The Real Life RD: “Most people don’t think of Thanksgiving as “healthy,” but when you think of it as a way to connect with friends and family, how is it not? And frankly, loneliness will shave a lot more years off your life than macaroni and cheese ever will. Dieting… not so great for your social life.” So true. I think many people are constantly trying to find their best self and balance that with their social life.
4 – Curled hair. I don’t curl my hair all that often, but when I do I always love it. My favorite way to curl it is with this curling wand. I have super fine and straight hair, and I with this wand a little bit of hair spray, my hair will hold a curl all day. The photo below is after a 12 hour day. This is my favorite hair spray.
I just take chunks of hair and wrap the ends around the wand, wrapping the hair away from my face. I can do the whole thing in 15-20 minutes.
And for those of you that asked on Instagram – my all black Ray-Bans are here.
5 – And the final favorite of this Friday (besides pizza & wine), are these flats. They are SO comfortable. They have enough cushion that I can walk between meetings without feeling like I am walking barefoot, but they are slim enough to fit in my bag.
Who is racing this weekend?
Long run, short run, cross training, or rest? What is up on deck for you?
