Happy Friday friends! I am headed off on an adventure today and I could not be more excited. I am going to miss Bennie The Dog so much, but luckily we’ve got some awesome house guests to keep him company. And don’t worry – I’ll be making regular calls to the Furbo LOL.
We will be visiting Istanbul, Portugal, Barcelona and Budapest. I can’t wait. I plan to run when I can, but I am going to with no plan in mind and experiencing everything fully will come first. I did pack running stuff only because I love to explore a new city on foot and by running, so if I can – I will definitely be running. I will also be trying all the yummy food and enjoying it guilt free.
There was a time in my life when a trip like would UNDO me mentally. I would be very anxious about getting away from my workout schedule and strict eating. I promise you that it is not worth it. Besides, the increase in cortisol from stressing over the whole thing is worse for you than a little bread and good wine!
This past training cycle I worked harder than I ever have before. I ran higher mileage, I kept up with lifting weights, getting to active release therapy, stretching, ice baths, nutrition, and balanced my home and work life (hitting my highest sales months ever!) along with it. And I loved every minute of it. And now it is time to recover – which I’m doing the best way I know how, with my people and adventure!
I have decided that training for a marathon is the worst possible training for Spain. You go to bed early, don’t drink often, don’t eat any foods that you know could upset your stomach, try to stay off your feet when not training, and go to bed early. In Spain (and most of the other places we are going) they don’t even eat dinner until 10pm LOL! How am I going to stay up that late?
I thought I’d show you all what I am packing today. While I am gone, we have some really awesome special guests! I can’t wait for you to meet them.
I usually try to bring a lot of basics that can be mixed and matched. Keeping everything in a similar color palette (with a few pops of color) helps.
These trousers from Lululemon are a find I am really excited about! I have never worn anything like this before, but they are a really light black fabric and have a more dressed up look than leggings I think. Hopefully I can pull them off LOL.
This top goes with everything and looks cute tucked in or left out.
This is my favorite chambray shirt. It is on the more expensive side, but it hangs perfectly and I wear it way too much. I also got a pair of shorts that are a version of those pants above. They are really comfortable, but look more dressed up than running shorts. John teases me about wearing running shorts EVERYWHERE sometimes – look who’s laughing now? I found formal running shorts HA.
Lastly, I decided to bring one fun dress. Let’s be real – I just want to look like this emoji:
