Omg it won’t stop raining! My house is going to become an ark. Literally. My crawl space was flooded and I spent most of yesterday sitting in the stairwell with my laptop, working and waiting for the plumber to pump out the water and fix the leak. But they fixed it! So YAY for that! Bennie sat and watched the whole day, so he is exhausted now. He doesn’t much like strangers coming into his house. I don’t blame him. Luckily the plumbers were very nice and they fixed my ark house.
This was after I did my Yasso 800s at the track in sheets of rain and 40mph winds. My car seat is still damp from me sitting in for the 12 minute drive home. So I am ready for a break from the constant downpour.
I have been using this mask from Origins the past couple of weeks. Activated charcoal is a thing right now, so I wanted to try it. Plus it freaks my boyfriend out when I do the mask, so that’s also fun. Most importantly, it makes my skin feel so soft and it is helping prevent the mid day oil patch. You know what I mean? In the middle of the day your t-zone just gets super oily for no reason. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you are a lucky person.
Speaking of skin, I am always looking for things that are going to help my hair, skin and nails out. I figure I abuse them regularly enough that I should try to give them a boost. Vital Proteins collagen is awesome for this. You know how people get collagen injections to not have wrinkles? Yeah, well the idea is to not need fillers injected into your face. Various dermatologists over the years have always told me diet and sun protection will do the most for my skin. I just put it in my coffee or tea. It dissolves completely and you really can’t taste it. Unlike some other powders that say that, but its just not true. I’m looking at you, Miralax.
In the picture just below the collagen is Cassy Joy’s Fed & Fit project cookbook. I love this book because although it is a “28 day project” it has so many good recipes and workouts that just fit in to what I’m already doing. As I have been trying more crossfit-style workouts after my runs, I am constantly looking for new ideas and the book has 28 days worth. For me, strength work is absolutely necessary. I keep myself motivated by constantly changing what I’m doing. The recipes in this book are also really good and straightforward.
I got this candle from Target in all honesty because it looked cute on my coffee table. But it smells amazing!!! I have never used a soy candle before, so I don’t know if that is why it is smells so nice, but I love it. Kind of a clean smell without being too sharp. And it permeates my house and makes it smell like I cleaned. Which I probably haven’t.
When I got the Tracksmith singlet I talked about in my race recap, it came with this large “No Days Off” calendar. You can print a free version off their website too. No Days Off is not about not taking a day off from running – it is about not taking a day off from doing something to make you a better runner. Sometimes that is running, sometimes it is foam rolling and stretching, and sometimes it is having pizza and wine with your girlfriends. Or maybe that is too loose an interpretation…whatever. Sometimes mental health is the most important kind.
Also I want everything on Tracksmith’s website.
My friend Kindal told me about these boots. They are basically a cheaper version of Normatec boots. And holy freaking moly they are awesome to have at home!! My legs are so happy. I almost can’t believe they worked so well for the price. I know it is still a lot of money, but it is almost $1100 less than Normatec.
John bought these furniture sliders to put under his feet for things like mountain climbers, lunges, etc. They were a little too small for his feet, but the perfect size for mine. They are great for challenging core work.
Breakfast – I have been enjoying my oatmeal with berries, bananas and almond butter. I still do a half scoop of protein powder. Some mornings I have just been doing a banana with almond butter and then a green smoothie an hour or two after. Just depends on the day. I used to be RELIGIOUS about eating the same thing for breakfast everyday. I would have peanut butter and banana toast with an egg white omelette. And then one day I felt like if I had to wash that egg pan one more time I might freak out. So I took that as a hint to stop making eggs for breakfast every. damn. day.
I wasn’t quite hungry enough to want to eat a snack, but I still wanted something. I love these Kevita drinks. They are kind of pricey, but they are a probiotic and don’t upset my stomach the way carbonated drinks usually do. They have the perfect amount of fizz and flavor.
For lunch I cooked up a chicken sausage with wilted spinach and two whole eggs. Ironically, making eggs at lunch doesn’t make me want to throw the egg pan through the window – but maybe that has to do with the fact that I didn’t already wash it 47 times that week.
In the afternoon I was craving something sweet so I have a couple of these Larabar bites. They are awesome. The mint chocolate flavor is pretty phenomenal. Way better for you than a Girl Scout cookie.
And then I rewarded myself for cleaning the kitchen with a Justin’s dark chocolate peanut butter cup. YUM.
And then I hit the hay! Also can you tell I got my nails done halfway through the day lol?
What is your favorite treat?
Do you eat the same thing for breakfast every day?
