Happy Friday guys! By the time you read this John and I will be en route to Tahoe. Sadly, Bennie is going to stay home. But my WONDERFUL friend, Alie, is going to house sit for me, so that is always fun for him. I never want to bring him along on trips if I don’t know there will be a safe/secure place for him – plus I don’t want to impose haha! I’m really really hoping to get a run (or two if I am really lucky) in while I am there.
Tahoe is a little bit higher elevation (6,224) as opposed to Marin County (the very highest point at Mt Tam is 2576). So I know I will need to do an extra good job hydrating and be extra careful drinking my beloved Sav Blanc lol. I’m bringing my hydration pack – for water while running, not wine. Although….
I recently got the Runner’s World cookbook. The forward is written by Deena Kastor:
“The Runner’s World Cookbook can help you accomplish these dual goals – creating meals made with simple ingredients that fuel your training while helping build relationships with those you love.” SOLD
I can’t wait to make the long-run cake with peanut butter-cream cheese frosting and I already love the crunchy coffee-cocoa shake. The pictures are beautiful and all the recipes are categorized as pre-run, recovery, low calorie, fast prep, ect.
Speaking of food – I have been eating a lot of the Lauren’s Mega Nuts picky bars on the weekends. (My awesome IG friend Elizabeth Inpyn is on the wrapper, hello!) Getting in tons of protein is easy for me, so I am trying to eat more carbs, and these are a perfect post run recovery or mid-day snack. Anyway, when I went to order more, I saw their low pro trucker hat. So good! It has a lower crown than most truckers – which normally do not flatter my face shape. This one is breathable and so comfy. John even wanted one too.
Last food item – I promise! But I finally got to try the Sea Salt Caramel flavor from Eat Enlightened. If you haven’t checked this ice cream out before, the macros are awesome. Higher than Arctic Zero, but the overall taste is so much better in my opinion. Plus, it doesn’t give me a bloated achy tummy like Arctic Zero does.
It was pretty tasty – the caramel was a little overwhelming though. So far, I’ve tried mint chip, frozen hot cocoa, caramel cookie crunch and the sea salt caramel. I like the caramel cookie crunch the best because the cookies break up the caramel. I really really want to try the peanut butter chocolate chip though!
Wednesday of this week I got to go volunteer at the Ritter Center. I worked in the food pantry with some co-workers and we helped bag up food to be handed out to low or no income families. If you haven’t tried volunteering in your community yet, I would definitely recommend it! Just a couple hours here or there make a big difference, and the community of people are generally wonderful.
This top is a new favorite.
I was lucky enough to win the giveaway from Lindsey Hein’s I’ll Have Another podcast! Download it now if you haven’t already. I got a beautiful Erica Sara necklace and a package of Mile Markings temporary tattoos. The tattoos are such a good idea! You can check them out here. My Erica Sara necklace is stunning as well. I have one charm for the California International Marathon. Erica designs a gorgeous design and it has the time on the back. The other charm my amazing mom surprised me with for my Chicago training!! Thank you Lindey, Mile Markings, Erica & Mom!!
