I had quite the day with tracks on Monday. First I got kicked off the high school track because, what do you know – the kids have to do school things there. Whatever! I finished the workout on the road, but I really prefer the track for speed work. Maybe the kids should learn about Yasso 800s and the history of badassery that is The Boston Marathon. Guess that is why the school system doesn’t ask my barren uterus and me for an opinion on the curriculum. Moving on.
Bennie The Dog and I also had some photography planned a local college track that is usually NEVER being used. But when we got there, a nearby junior high was using it for their PE classes that day. I used to DREAD running in PE. I was terrified of smelling bad (mostly because some jerk kids told me that I stunk before any of us even knew what body odors were – they were just being d**ks). So anyway, I was terrified of sweating at all and it totally sucked the fun out of PE. Not to mention I’ve never been the best at hand-eye coordination or team sports. Luckily we got in and got out in about half hour between PE classes, so it worked out perfectly.
I decided not to wear make up except for filling in my eyebrows for the pictures because I don’t run with make up on, and I didn’t want to look all dolled up in my running clothes – weird. I’m so glad I didn’t. Pony tail and running clothes is how I feel the most comfortable. Full disclosure – definitely curled my hair to make it bouncy and cute in the pony tail ha! Bennie’s look is completely natural. He woke up like that.
I woke up with a tweaked back on Sunday morning and it was super lucky that I had recently received this wrap in the mail. I charged the little battery pack and stuck it in the handy little pocket on the belt. At first I wasn’t sure it would work because it was so small and I didn’t feel like it would get heat to my low back when the battery pack was up front. But it did! It stayed hot for 2 hours and that felt awesome. I went to active release therapy on Monday, and I’m feeling much better now.
Wide belts are a trend for Spring 2017. It’s called fashion.
The weather has been back to the 70s this week and that means back to smoothies for me. I love having one for a snack, but I can’t do it when it is cold out haha! I just do one serving of sliced peaches, pineapples or mango, half a serving of protein power of some kind, unsweetened cashew milk, and as much spinach as I can fit in the cup.
The spinach taste gets pretty much obliterated by the fruit, and it keeps me satisfied until my next meal. I used to HATE drinking calories of any kind, but this is really satisfying and isn’t too heavy when it is warm out. Plus it is a good way to sneak in extra vegetables. I got my blender/food processor for Christmas and I love it.
Speaking of extra vegetables, The Hungry Runner Girl always posts pictures of these amazing bowls for salads and her awesome sweet potato creations. When she posted a link to them, I had to order some. They live up to the hype. John usually eats meals (like salad, pasta, oatmeal, ect) out of a mixing bowl, because it is the only bowl big enough for all the food and mixing it up. I think these might be up to the challenge. I wish I could eat pasta out of a mixing bowl, let me tell you. The metabolism of dudes vs. ladies is just not fair.
Do you like smoothies?
