Yesterday I woke up feeling pretty wiped out. I didn’t really notice it until after my workout. Around 10:30 am, I was in a meeting and felt like I could have laid my head down and passed out right there.
Getting sick is so frustrating! I’m going to do all the things I can to help it. Of course with runners, this is most accurate in terms of still training while having a head cold:
Yesterday afternoon, I stopped by a local PT clinic to use their Game Ready. I’ve been doing a lot of training and asking a lot of my body, so I am trying to do as much of the precautionary things as I can. Getting sick is a sign that I’m just tired and worn out, so it puts me on high alert.
Game Ready is compression with ice cold water pulsing through it. It is a similar idea to NormaTec, but adds the cold component. It seems believers in Game Ready think the cold component makes them better than a NormaTec boot, and believers in the opposite have all kinds of good reasons the NormaTec boots are better. That said, there is no where near me that has NormaTec boots, so the choice is an easy one haha! I do wish the Game Ready went up the full length of your leg like NormaTec though.
I only know about Game Ready because we used to use them on our show horses!
You would wrap the attachments around the horse’s leg and hold the tubes pumping water through them up by putting them through a soft band around the horse’s belly. Our horses always seemed to love their Game Ready time, and I can understand why! It feels so good.
I have been throughly enjoying the Double Chocolate Teff cookies I made from Run Fast Eat Slow. To store cookies, I put stack them up in muffin papers – it works like a charm and is so much easier than using parchment paper.
