Last week in my Friday Favorites post, I talked about the egg white “issue” going on in my area hahaha #drama. In short – the chickens aren’t doing so great, and neither are their eggs, therefore, neither are the egg whites. Plus the price is creeping up.
I eat egg whites often. This is so boring & lame – but my favorite thing to make with them is a big veggie omelet with salt & pepper. There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating REAL eggs with the yolks. They are really good for you! That said, there are plenty of ways to get healthy fats. Egg yolks just don’t really do it for me – I don’t find them that exciting. I prefer to get healthy fats from (duh) nut butter, fish, cheese, avocado, ect.
So I will eat egg whites often, for any meal of the day, and in large quantities. They are really good source of lean protein, and don’t upset my stomach the way protein powder sometimes can. Protein powder sometimes makes me feel bloated, and no one likes that feeling, yanno? With the price & inconvenience factors of the egg white shortage, I decided to give Eggwhites 24/7 a try when John told me about them. Here is their website.
The honest to goodness best part about their product? IT SHIPS FREE. And fast. No more driving to two (or three – yes I am that serious about my egg whites) to get cartons of egg whites. I ordered 4 half gallons for $44, and had them at my front door about 2 days later.
The pricing is really close to the cartons of egg whites you buy in store, and the quality is great. As with those cartons of egg whites, you can also drink these straight. Does anyone actually do this? It sounds so….slimy. I can’t bring myself to try it yet. I suppose I could understand it from a convenience stand point, but I don’t know….
