I don’t think it is possible for me to write a blog post with less than 5 words in the title.
Last year, I had no idea that we got to see The Boston Marathon Celebration jacket before the race. Or that you could actually purchase it this far in advance. This year, I knew it was coming and have been anxiously awaiting its release. A couple days ago, Adidas put the men’s and women’s storm jackets up on their website. Based on the women’s storm jacket, I was thinking the celebration jacket wouldn’t be my style at all.
They finally released the jacket (right after my 30% off Adidas coupon expired), and I actually think I do quite like it. I know most people are going to HATE the orange. But I kind of love that its different and the maroon is a unique color combo that I think is cool. Do people say “cool” anymore? That’s how uncool I am.
Besides, I am so grateful and happy that I have the opportunity to be running the Boston Marathon that it really wouldn’t matter to me what color it is! They would make it a giant pineapple and I’d probably still wear it. I still love this article from runner’s world that shows jackets through the years.
Ok – now that we’ve discussed this VERY important item – we can move on. This week has been really nice – I didn’t have to do a lot of long drives for work, and that makes my productivity so much easier to maintain. Sometimes when I get home at 3pm after being in the car all day, the thought of sitting down at my computer to answer emails makes me want to scream. So I take the dog for a walk, open the mail, find something to clean….all of the sudden its 6pm and time to make dinner. Being home this week has meant more sleep, and getting a lot more done without feeling like I’ve been sitting ALL day.
Speaking of sitting in front of my computer all day – I saw these Phonetic glasses on Instagram & immediately wanted to try them out. Maybe I am sucker for marketing (I am, there’s no maybe about it), but I like the idea of some kind of protection for my eyes from all the screens I look at all day. I bought these, no sponsorship or anything like that. I am wearing the style “Blair” in tortoise.
I am also loving these Best Nine things the everyone is posting on Instagram. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea how the Instagram algorithm truly works. Sometimes I am surprised that a certain photo will get so much more engagement over another photo. But at the end of the day, I never really expect anyone but my mom & dad (hiiii mom & dad!!) to look at them, so I don’t really worry about it. It’s mostly just a fun little time capsule of the year.
I think you all know my feelings on the Vaporfly 4% – love them. I raced Chicago in them, and the pair I have probably has 1 or maybe 2 more marathons in them. However, this is not a shoe meant for a lot of miles as they just don’t hold up. So when Nike was going to do another release – I had quite an emotion rollercoaster of a day when I didn’t get a pair haha. Then my sweet sweet friend Saige (thank you Saige!) texted me later that night and said they were back up. I dropped everything I was doing and snagged a pair. I’m super excited about the red. No particular reason yeah…. #f*ckyeah
I think there are a couple random sizes left of the Vaporfly 4%. You can read my review of the Vaporfly 4% here. I use the Zoom Fly on speed days & long runs. You can read my review of the Zoom Fly here. I use the Vomeros on easy days. I didn’t mean for all my running shoes to be Nike – it just happened that way.
I have definitely gone through a lot of books this year. It seems like at the moment all the book recommendations I keep getting are for scary books. I am a huge wimp and can’t handle even a little bit of sadness or scariness in a book. There is enough of that in the real world. So I was running out of books fast that weren’t scary, sad, or too romance novel-y. Someone told me about the Goodreads App and I really like it. I just got an email about their 2017 best books of year as well. The app lets you mark & rate books you’ve already read, gives recommendations based on that, and keeps a list of books you marked as “want to read.” Next on my list is the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy. So far its great.
