This past weekend of fun around the San Francisco Marathon was a blast! It kicked off Friday evening with a shakeout run for Jaybird Sport headphones and run keeper.
We met in Chrissy field at 7:30 and ran a mile and a half up to the bridge, then turned around and came back down. It was a really beautiful time of night to see the sun set. Sometimes the sun rises aren’t so exciting in San Francisco because of the fog.
There were prizes for three of the runners from Jaybird, and Runkeeper gave away some gear too.
The next morning I hit up the expo and got to help out on a video project for Jaybird. I’ve never done anything like it before, so I was a little nervous, but it was a lot of fun.
They had an inspiration wall up for everyone to write “why I run.” It was really cool to see everyone’s reasons for running – everything ranging from “I run so I can eat a lot of carbs!” to people running for loved ones or to gain confidence in themselves. I loved every one.
Later that night I got my pre-race carbs in at my favorite restaurant for Italian food in San Francisco.
Once we got home, I wasn’t even the least bit tired and had a glass of wine to help me unwind. I have a glass of wine most every week before my long run, so I really don’t stress about having one before a race. I just make sure to have a big glass of water with Nuun in it at some point in the evening after wine has been consumed.
Race recap coming tomorrow!
