The sun isn’t coming up until 7:30 and that makes morning runs so much harder to get up for. Head lamp, reflective vest & cold weather gear make the difference though!
Monday was a 7.5 mile run at 8:10 average. The goal was to go out easy, run up and down a steep incline, and then get in a few miles of goal marathon at the end. I went out a little too hard, which meant I couldn’t go as hard for the miles in the end. Live & learn.
Lift: chest/triceps/biceps and core
Lift: lower body & core
Friday was my first swim workout doing drills. It was a lot of fun and really broke up the monotony of just going back and forth. I have never used fins before when swimming laps and it was AWESOME haha! I have never felt so fast.
Saturday was the long run. The plan was to find somewhere downhill, run easy for the first 8 miles and work down to goal marathon pace for the last 8 miles. The reality was that the route I picked didn’t quite pan out.
You can see the elevation gain was all in the front end, about 1,221 feet to be exact. I had a really hard time hanging onto goal marathon pace in the last 8 miles. I’d like to think I would have been more successful without the hill climbing in the front half the run. It was really hard not to get down on myself for this run. I ended up with 16 miles at 8:15 average. I felt mad at myself for picking a route that didn’t allow for the planned workout. I felt mad that I felt so tired. But at the end of the day, that is still some good, hard work. Not every run is going to be perfect, and it was a beautiful day to be out running around the city.
There may have been a margarita post run 🙂 You can shop my shoes here.
Full day of eating for Wednesday this past week:
Breakfast was OatFit Cinnamon Bun oatmeal with 1/2 scoop PEScience Snickerdoodle flavor protein powder. Topped with banana and figs and a puddle of peanut butter. If you haven’t tried figs on your oats, I highly recommend.
Afternoon snack was an apple with Nuttzo.
Dinner was the bison meatballs from the Run Fast Eat Slow cook book. They have kale in them. I had them with some noodles, zoodles & marinara sauce. The bison has a little more fat in it than the 93/7 lean ground beef I use. Omg they were so good.
I had a couple Justin’s mini dark chocolate peanut butter cups for dessert. Those are so good!
