Week 3 of Chicago Training is in the books!
Monday – Drills, 1 mile warm up @ 8:59, 6 sets of 800s: 3:02/2:59/3:01/3:01/3:01/3:06 w/800 cool downs in between and a cool down mile @ 9:07 – total of 8 miles @ 7:47 average.
Tuesday – 30 mins XT & BBG full body – I was so tired and sore from speed work on Monday! Very proud of myself for doing every single push up in the workout on my toes though HA.
Wednesday – 8:22/7:31/7:16/7:09/7:03/6:44 – 6 miles total @ 7:22 avg, physical therapy exercises and BBG legs, then some squats & deadlifts. I did this workout fasted – wasn’t feeling hungry when I woke up.
Thursday – 4 miles easy effort @ 9:05 avg & BBG arms/abs
Friday – swim 3000 meters. This was a new best time for me in 1 hr and 2 minutes! I love my swim days, but wish I had water proof headphones to listen to podcasts while I swim.
Saturday – 13 miles easy effort @ 8:37 average. I did this on my favorite hilly route and felt pretty good overall. It wasn’t too hot, and I had a honey stinger waffle before hand. I listened to my favorite podcasts.
At mile 6.56 I had a package of the honey stinger protein chews. I love them and they are so tasty. I have used them several times before my runs. This was my first time using it in the middle of a run. However, I did notice the package had a hole in it after I had eaten them all.
My long run on Saturday was a virtual run to donate towards food allergy awareness. This past February, my friend from college (we dated all through college and were friends still) passed away from a very sudden food allergy reaction.
Totally fake tattoo! I do like it, but doubt I will ever get one for real.
I came home and wasn’t feeling super hungry, which is unusual. Usually after an easy paced run I am ravenous. So I made coffee and stretched. I knew I needed to eat, so I decided to make John & I breakfast. As I was putting Nuttzo on my toast, I could tell my stomach felt BAD. The smell of food was grossing me out. I decided to try eating anyway – I knew I had to get some food in me. About halfway through my piece of peanut butter banana toast, I felt really sick. So I decided to go upstairs and lay down. By the time I was up the stairs, I knew I was going to be sick. I will spare you the gory details, but I didn’t eat any food or keep liquid down until about 11am.
I sipped on diet ginger ale and snacked on saltines in the afternoon. I was able to eat chicken noodle soup for dinner which was good.
I really wish I could have figured out what happened! Why did I get sick? It maybe could have been something to do with the opened packet of chews? Or maybe I just got a weird virus. I felt fine before, during and about an hour after the run. It wasn’t hot and I didn’t feel dehydrated.
Hopefully it never happens again!
Did you race or have a long run this weekend?
Ever get a 24 hour virus?
Can’t get enough of Sarah Marie Designs.
