When my family and boyfriend asked me what I wanted to do for my 28th birthday – I said what any normal person would, “I want to run 20 miles and eat with you all!” Haha! So my mom and dad came to visit.
Friday night we went to a restaurant near the water. My Dad and I shared oysters as an appetizer.
I ordered linguini with red sauce and grilled chicken. That’s probably what I’ll eat the night before the race in Chicago.
After dinner we walked around downtown.
Saturday morning I went and ran for a few hours. Then got breakfast in bed from John and Bennie! What? Do you not get back in bed after a long run and shower?
I am a lucky girl! I got so much birthday love from all my friends and family!
My mom and Dad golfed while I ran. After lunch, we went to a local bike store that was having a big summer sale.
I have really been wanting a bike to be able to cross train outside, and maybe even do a triathlon here or there!
I thought this one looked perfect!
I ended up settling on a Orbea Orca M30! We got it at a great price since it was on sale. Any suggestions for a name LOL?
This particular bike is actually not the one I am going to own. Mine is coming from a shop a few hours away it has some light pink. Of course I will be sure to post a picture!!
For my birthday dinner I really wanted to go to Picco – a really cute restaurant in downtown Larkspur. Their avocado toast with balsamic is so so good! Look at those sea salt flakes.
We also tried their tuna tartare on sticky rice cakes. So yummy!
I had the squid ink pasta for dinner because it is something I would usually never order and certainly not make myself. WOW! So tasty! I couldn’t finish it all. Every dish we tried was phenomenal.
They gave us a complimentary dessert for my birthday – soft serve with caramel and sea salt. I had a bite and it was awesome! But I was saving room for the real froyo adventure. Mag’s frozen yogurt, which is across the street from Picco.
I couldn’t finish it either. But that cookie dough and mini peanut butter cups were so worth the bites.
John bought me a tiny cake and crammed 28 candles on it.
Quite the fire hazard and a wax mess after LOL. Not edible.
We finished the weekend with breakfast on Sunday morning at MH Bread & Butter. I have been wanting to go to this place for a long time. I started following fastfoodie on Instagram a while ago because she is an AMAZING ultarunner. One day, she posted something about owning a bakery/restaurant IN MARIN, my jaw dropped. I realized that the restaurant she owns with her husband is just in San Anselmo, about 3 miles from my house. I convinced my parents and boyfriend to go there with me and it did not disappoint. Thick slices of soft bread with crunchy crust and perfectly seasoned ripe avocado and fried egg. I didn’t get to meet Devon – but I am sure I got faster just eating there, right?! Haha. Be sure you check out her website here.
I am very lucky to have such wonderful people in my life! All the texts, calls and messages this weekend made my heart so happy!
