It made me very proud when I caught John snap chatting his food this weekend. He went for a very Memorial Day appropriate hot dog, beer and sun chips while we were at the mall the other day. You may not be able to tell from the photo, but he believes in ALL the hot dog toppings. I do not. So I had a bite before all that went on haha.
Later that night, we watched the Prefontaine movie with Jared Leto. It was fun to watch it, although I can’t say it is the best filmography I’ve ever seen haha. I liked learning more about Pre’s story and the whole history of that time in running. It is great movie for a “runnerd” like you probably are if you are reading this blog.
On Monday, after I finished my run, I was walking the last .3 mile home to cool down. I felt a guy walking really closely behind me. The more I sped up, so did he. This is one of those situations where it is probably nothing. But you need to always have your wits about you and be paying attention. I’d rather be overly cautious than in a scary situation. So I held down on my SafeTrek app until I was well away from him and back in the house. The app has a button that you hold down on. When you are safe, you release it and enter a code. If you don’t put in the code, the police will be notified and given your location based off your phone’s GPS. I believe it is a $2 per month subscription – and well worth it in my opinion.
Speaking of apps, another one I have been loving is MileIQ. My mom told me about it – mom’s know everything. Since I have a company car, I have to track my personal and business mileage. Not a big deal, but it can be hard to remember to do if you are in a hurry or thinking about the other 50,000 things you have going on that day when you first get in your car. Basically it uses GPS to pick up on when you are moving and then you track the drives as personal or business by swiping left or right. It did take me a bit to realize that it picks up on runs and bike rides, and sometimes even dog walks! It picked up on my 10 mile run from Monday. That makes me feel pretty good for some reason haha!
No, the app doesn’t normally have those emojis. Just not trying to put my address on the internet. See above cautionary warnings.
We had this amazing pizza on Monday night because I had all the hungries after that crazy tough 10 mile workout. And it had arugula on it. So it was basically a salad.
On our way to pick up said pizza, we passed this old timey convertible on the freeway. Both the man and woman were wearing little batman hats!! Don’t worry, John was driving so that I could take this photo.
So many questions. Did he always have a batman hat and at some point, when their relationship was ready for it, he presented her with her very own batman hat? Does he love batman and she got them for him/them? Did the car come first and then the hats? Is hat even the right term for them? Because they covered the face almost completely. I will say as a person with long hair, I can appreciate the whimsy fashion and function of this garment.
Yesterday I made Paleomg.com’s red thai beef curry. As always, I got a TON of direct messages asking me where I got this bowl when I posted it on Instagram stories. You can find it at World Market here. I totally get it, you guys have great taste LOL.
I also cooked up some verde chicken in my crockpot. It is so so easy. I just take a can of green enchilada sauce and put it in the crockpot with some chicken – you can use breasts or thighs. Obviously thighs are going to be more tasty because #fat. Then you leave it for about 6 hours. You can put it over rice, veggies, in tortillas.
Anyone racing the Dipsea this weekend? It is a famous 7.2 mile hike/run in Marin. I’ve “run” it once and hiked it a bunch. It destroys every time! I’ve never done the race, but I thought this was a great article about it.
What was your weekend full of?
Would you wear a batman hat?!
