This week was a bit of a deload week with lower mileage.
Monday was 5.25 miles @ 7:29 average. The goal was to keep my heart rate between 158-168. My heart rate zones were updated from my test last week. Then John & I lifted in the afternoon. I lifted legs & glutes.
Thursday was a total rest day. I had to drive 4 hours to a meeting and 4 hours home. I stayed with John so that he could watch Bennie for me. I thought about getting up at 3:00 am to get my run done beforehand, but losing that much sleep didn’t seem conducive to getting a quality run. Even for me – and I can go on 5-6 hours of sleep without much issue. So I walked to a coffee shop with Bennie in the morning before I had to leave & shared an egg sandwich with him 🙂
Friday was a 3000 meter swim, fastest ever in under an hour. I did it in sets: 100/200/300/400 (with sculling paddles & pull buoy)/500 (with fins)/500/400/300/200/100. It was fun to break it up like that.
Afterward I got a peanut butter and banana sandwich and coffee. It was amazing!! Swimming makes me so hungry which means breakfast afterwards also tastes exceptionally good.
Saturday was an easy pace run for two hours. I ended up with 13 miles in almost exactly 2 hours at a 9:16 average pace and 150 average heart rate. I got lucky with the weather and ran before the storm.
Sunday morning is normally my rest day. It was weird to wake up knowing I had a run to do. That said, it was kind of convenient because Sunday is football day and I absolutely hate football. Watching it, that is. I can barely sit still through a two hour movie, let alone a football game. The goal was 45 minutes with my heart rate between 169-177. I got lucky with the weather again and ran when there was a break in the storms.
Do you take deload weeks?
Do you like running in the rain?
