Monday was 3.2 miles at 7:36. It was pretty snowy, but I took the the first part slow and ran to the track where it was mostly clear.
Once I got to the track, I ran the straights fast and recovery on the curves.
This time though, the track was COMPLETELY blanketed in snow. I was glad to have had my YakTrax.
Thursday we were supposed to fly out at 3:30. After a delay and a new flight at 1:50 am, I cajoled John into taking me to a nearby gym. I knew I had about an hour, so I warmed up and got to work. 7 miles at 7:34 average.
We got to John’s house and the plan was to immediately repack and hop in the car for a 3 hour drive to Mendocino. We got food and coffee for survival. We got a bagel with lox and a breakfast wrap.
Truth be told, eating the food after being up all night and knowing I wasn’t going to work out that day gave me a lot of anxiety. Working out on that little sleep – especially running – probably wouldn’t have served me anyway. I felt a lot better after eating, and pushed those anxious thoughts away. I was so excited to see Bennie, so that helped.
Saturday was 5.01 miles at 8:53 in Mendocino. It was beautiful.
23.3 miles to finish the week and kick off the New Year!
