I hope everyone had an amazing Labor Day weekend! I definitely did. I’m still letting my knee/left leg and hip rest from the IT band flare up. In the future I will do a better job planning my long runs so that I am not running on extremely sore quads and glutes. Not worth it. It is hard not to be bummed since my focus has to be on getting healthy instead of training. This part is frustrating and boring, but it will come around and pay off.
My mom got me these & they are both so applicable at all times, but especially right now.
I’m still sticking with doing a lower carb day on rest days and working upper body. I have also incorporated some light plyo & biking. I’ve tested out running a couple of times, and it just isn’t time yet. So my lower carb day is 150C/140P/58F. This really isn’t that much less food, and it helps hit a reset button, especially after a weekend of eating out. The rest of the week I am staying at 215C/135P/53F. My weight hasn’t changed, so that is great. I think my metabolism has caught up with the macros I’m at now. Hopefully while I’m resting from running, I am gaining muscle & strength.
I am also still doing Active Release Therapy and going to the Chiropractor. My hips don’t have pain all the time any more, and I am sleeping much better. Both doctors have stressed the importance of good/enough nutrition and hydration right now, so I am taking their advice the best I can. I have talked about Active Release Therapy in a few other posts, but you can read more about it here.
For the long weekend, my boyfriend and I went to Seattle. It was a family/friends trip and also my birthday present from him. It was SO much fun. I got to see some friends that I used to show horses with, and my friends from college met up with a group of his friends and we all went bowling.
I even got to visit Oiselle’s flagship store in University Village. I bought a pair for the Mac Roga shorts, the LF sweat pants, and the Verrazano scrappy sports bra. I basically already don’t want to ever take the sweatpants off. The shorts have great pockets and hug/don’t hug in the right spots, and I will let you know what I think of the sports bra when I am back running 🙂 Their sizes are pretty similar to Lululemon, but it was so great to get to try everything on.
I don’t track macros on these types of trips. It just isn’t worth it for me to stress myself out about it. A few days of intuitive eating won’t affect my progress, especially because I’m not doing a bikini competition or something similar. That doesn’t mean I eat until I’m sick, or completely go nuts. BUT…it is nice not to think about it for a while and just enjoy the people and the experiences.
My mom babysat my dog while I was gone and I can’t wait to get him back from her tomorrow!
With love & patience,
