Hope you all had an a happy hump day! Today was a pretty average day for me, workout from 4-5:30, meetings in the morning and office in the afternoon.
Breakfast was my old standby, egg beaters with toast. I know just the whites are a little more unprocessed and probably better for you, but beaters were on sale. I put mushrooms and spinach in the eggs since I am trying to be better about eating more veggies. The toast has Nuttzo (you can order here and use my code kyle15 for 15% off), banana, flax seeds and cinnamon. And coffee with nonfat milk too.
Mid-morning snack was a white chocolate raspberry quest bar since I was driving around between meetings. They are a lifesaver for me. This is one of my favorite flavors! I also like S’mores and Cookie Dough.
I didn’t pack a lunch, so I went to a local Whole Foods-type grocery store for a #bigasssalad. I love being able to load up on whatever they have cooked up without having to do any of the work! It makes the aforementioned veggie eating more enjoyable. But it is on the pricey side (about $10 a salad), so I try not to do it very often. I usually do some combination of chicken, garbanzo beans, edamame, bell peppers, and cucumbers. I might throw a few dried cranberries on top sometimes too. Balsamic is the dressing I like to use.
Mid-afternoon snack was Siggi’s yogurt and San Franola. I like San Franola because its only 150 calories for 1/2 cup and it has 10g of protein. Their single serve packs are really nice as well because it is so damn tasty it is hard not to turn the 1/2 cup into several 1/2 cups. You can check it out here. The Siggi’s is nice because it has a lot of protein as well, so the afternoon snack will hold me until dinner.
Dinner was leftover grilled tilapia tacos with black beans and mango salsa. I got the salsa at Whole Foods. It’s awesome. Of course I had a dinner buddy – Bennie is never far during meal times. I use Flavor God seasonings on most the meat I grill. They are a lot tastier than things like Mrs. Dash, but still low sodium. You can order here.
I met with a running coach a few weeks back. She suggested that I start eating a higher carb snack at night (an hour or so before I go to bed) since I work out so early and don’t like to eat before I work out. My favorite is sprouted wheat bread (the kind that is a complete protein like Ezekiel), with Nuttzo, banana and Lily’s chocolate chips. I love Lily’s because they are dark chocolate and sugar free. You get A LOT for one 55 calorie serving. You can find them at most natural grocery stores, or you can order here. It is nice to have more energy through my workout and not be HANGRY by the time I’m stretching at the end. I mean – I’m still hangry, but at least I can stay to finish stretching.
