I haven’t done one of these posts in a while, so I figured time for a little update. I still prefer to train fasted & first thing in the morning. Before my workout, I will do my usual Beet Elite shot & Amino Energy (I do half a serving of the Aminos because I like to have coffee after training). During the workout, I either drink water, and/or BCAAs. I like the Xtend Watermelon flavor – you can order here. If my run is going to be longer than an hour, I will sometimes do a Gu/Chomps/Sports Beans. I like to try and keep my stomach used to those things.
Breakfast: -After training I come home and it is time for coffee + breakfast. Literally my FAVORITE meal of the day. It is also usually my largest & most carb heavy meal, because I need to recover after training. I do 3/4 cup egg white – now I swear by the Eggwhites 24/7 & you can read my post about that here – and I add in spinach and either scramble it or fold it into an omelet. Or sometimes I want to fold it into an omelet, and then the omelet explodes and it turns into a scramble. It’s called rolling with the punches – mmkay?
With the egg white scramble/omelet thing – I like to have toast with Nuttzo and banana (you can purchase Nuttzo here & use Kyle-20 for a discount). I usually have ezekiel bread. However, lately – I have been having a Thomas English Muffin in their limited edition Maple French Toast flavor. Errrmahgerdddd!!! So good! My friend Kindal told me about them (you can read her post here). I will be buying and eating them until Thomas stops making the limited edition flavor.
Morning snack: Lately I’m not always hungry for this – so I don’t always have it. If I do – I usually have a Siggi’s yogurt, sometimes with San Franola. Or I will have a Quest bar – my favorite flavor is Cookie Dough. You can buy San Franola here & use JBird25 for a discount.
Lunch: By this point I am HANGRY. I like to do a protein & ton of veggies to keep me full. One of my favorites is stir fry – which you can make a lot of & it reheats really well. The other benefit to stir fry is that I can add however much carb as I want based on the day. I can eat it plain, with no rice or noodles, and it is so good with them as well. If I go out, I will usually get a big salad, dressing on the side. For salads – I usually leave off cheese and candied nuts and other kind of “fluff” toppings. I want things that have fiber and good nutrients. There is nothing wrong with cheese, but it does add a lot of calories and fat that I personally would rather have in the form of avocado, peanut butter, egg yolk, ect.
Afternoon Snack: This differs depending on the day. If I know I am going to be eating dinner late, I might do something a little more substantial, like avocado toast. If I’m on the run – Quest bar. Or I might go for yogurt & fruit or granola again.
Dinner: I really enjoy cooking. I like chatting with friends/family/boyfriend while I cook, and then sitting down to eat. Some of my go to favorites are tacos & grilled fish or chicken with asparagus. Both easy and tasty. I also LOVE sweet potato fries – recipe here.
Like I talked about in my training update last week, I recently made a big skillet thing of shrimp and chicken sausage for John and I. I added in tomato paste, chicken stock, and a bunch of spices with zucchini, bell pepper and onion. You could put it over rice or pasta, and it was great reheated for lunch the next day.
Dessert/Night Cap: Not every day, but when I have room for it. I like a couple of pieces of dark chocolate with peppermint tea or the waffles I talked about here. They are really low in macros/calories, and super satisfying to my sweet tooth.

I really try to plan out my meals for the day the night before. That way there is less room for error (and by error I mean 5 cookies when I am only hungry for one), and I am not forgetting to eat when I should be. I try really hard to stay in the happy medium between not eating enough and eating too much, but of course I think everyone struggles with that!
