This week flew by! Work has gotten busy, which I actually like, and that means time flies.
Monday was easy miles on trails. Try as I might, I still got turned around haha! Not lost, but I have the worst sense of direction ever. It was 6 miles total at 9:37 average. There was some serious elevation changes, so I just took it slow and put one food in front of the other. When I got home, I did a pretty solid full body strength workout with the weights I have at home.
Tuesday was 6 miles with pick ups. Warmed up, then did a set of 5 pick ups that lasted about a minute – those were at 6:50 pace with a minute recovery in between. Then 5 minutes easy running before a second set of 5 pick ups. These were about a minute and fifteen seconds at a 6:30 pace. The rest was recovery. Overall pace ended up being 8:00. Afterwards I lifted upper body and core.
Wednesday was another easy 6 miles at 8:43 average. I stuck to the soft dirt as much as possible because my legs were feeling beat up. I lifted lower body after.
Thursday was a tempo run style workout. I warmed up for about 20 minutes around 8:13-9:00 minute mile pace. Then 4 repetitions with a minute rest in between.
1st rep: 3 mins @ 6:30, 1 min @ 6:07
2nd rep: 3 mins @ 7, 1 min @ 6:30
3rd rep: 3 mins @ 7, 1 min @ 6:30
4th rep: 3 mins @ 7, 1 min @ 6:07
Cool down pace was between 8:20-9:00. Overall it was 7 miles total @ 7:57 average. I did it on the treadmill because I needed to knock it out early so that I could drive to meetings.
Friday was a pyramid swim which was fun. The first 100 meters was warm up, then 200 meters free, 300 meters with flippers, 400 meters alternating backstroke and free, 500 meters with pull buoy and sculling paddles (I use these). Then work your way back down for a total of 2500 meters! My overall pace was 2:15, which I think is not very fast haha. But that is ok! I am working on form and that is good. My pectoral muscles were so sore!
Saturday was my long run. I had my heart set on running to Union Square to take photos in front of the big tree with my cute “Ugly Sweater” Christmas socks from ProCompression. Even though it was raining, it wasn’t too bad at this point. I ran about a mile to Union Square, struggled with my GoPro not taking photos well in the dark lighting and rain, then continued on to the rest of my 10 miles. It started coming down hard then. And wind. I threw my pace plans out the window and just focused on perceived effort and getting through it. It was still a great run, because any day I get to run I appreciate. But it was also great when it was done and I could take a hot shower haha!
What I Ate In A Day:
Breakfast was the usual Outfit with PEScience Snickerdoodle (1/2 scoop – use can use MARIE for 30% off), and a banana. I was out of blueberries, so I sprinkled about a little San Franola granola (Jbird25 for 25% off) on top. And of course Nuttzo (kyle-20 for 20% off).
Morning snack in the car was a peanut butter dark chocolate Kind Bar.
Lunch was my favorite salad from Blue Barn – spicy tuna with avocado, mango and dressing on the side.
Afternoon snack was an apple with Nuttzo.
Dinner this day was a chicken breast with big pile of veggies. I simmer them in chicken stock to steam, then put a little bit of coconut butter on top with salt and pepper. So good!
This wasn’t in the same day – but my other favorite this week has been salmon with asparagus. I like to put olive oil on the asparagus and grill it with the salmon. No dishes to do and the taste is delicious!
