This week was all prep for race day! After the Chicago marathon going the opposite of planned, I signed up for Revel Canyon City. I decided that I was already in marathon shape, it was a race I had wanted to do since my running bestie Kindal had done it last year. The race still had slots open, so I decided to go for it. I ran it by my coach and she and helped me train over the 4 week period between races.
Side note – my coach trains based on time. I am OCD and like to round my mile off at the nearest .25, .5 or full mile. Tuesday’s run was 3 miles at 8:23 average.
Thursday was 10 mins easy with pick ups. Going out for a 10 minute run is still hard for me to wrap my head around. Even as a shake out run. It feels kind of pointless and I always feel so crappy and doubt my ability to run a full race in the next two days. I don’t think I’m alone in that. Yet…we keep coming back for more!
