I'm a running obsessed foodie with exceptionally bad dancing skills. I have separation anxiety from my dog and a bad case of sarcasm. Thanks for listening to my ramblings about training and life.

Welcome to J Bird Runs! My name is Jennifer.
I love running, Bennie The Dog, peanut butter, sarcasm and running clothes. Not necessarily in that order. This blog is a place where they all come together through my journey to the finish line.
I started running in college and quickly fell in love. That said, I never thought I could do a half marathon until my best friend convinced me it was a good idea. She probably cannot believe the monster she has created.
Additionally, I used to show horses competitively. It was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain building my career with the time commitment and financial expense of showing horses. During this time, I was still running half marathons, although that particular time commitment was never a stressor because I didn’t need to take time of work to train or race. Eventually, It came time to make the call to find a perfect home for my once in a lifetime horse. Running was there for me. I had a goal in qualifying for Boston and I threw myself into that whole heartedly. It gave me a hobby and a community. I didn’t need anyone else to do it either. Just lace up and go.
I started this blog after carefully arranging & photographing a bowl of Oatmeal with Nuttzo Nut Butter mixed in. I texted it to my boyfriend and he made fun of me! You can even see my reflection in the spoon – which he definitely zoomed in on and showed me.
I was so embarrassed! Except – I had tagged Nuttzo in the photo and they reached out to me. At this point, I had been sharing a bit of my journey in training for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon in San Francisco on my Instagram. They suggested I apply for their ambassador program. This opened my eyes to a world of social media and running blogs that I never knew existed.
I decided to take the plunge and share away. I started this blog and was overwhelmed by all the fun and interesting connections I was making. I love getting to read other people’s stories and experiences from all over the world.
In my (semi) adult life, running has given me stress relief, an escape, a goal, a belief in myself, a motivation to fuel and love my body, and taught me that I can do anything on my own two feet – quite literally.
The nickname J Bird comes from my Dad. I hope you enjoy my blog & share your experiences with me as well!
