I recently listened to a Runner’s World Podcast where they talked about the Air Force fitness test. Because I spend so much time in my car driving for work, basically my only experiences to draw from in conversation are about:
- Bennie The Dog
But I’m totally cool with that. I digress. This podcast in particular discussed the Air Force fitness test. It was very interesting to hear and of course got me thinking about whether or not I could do the test. I have not tried it yet, but I did look up the tables the use to score the test. You should definitely go give it a listen as they do a better job explaining it. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but will be reporting back! I think the running and sit ups would not be an issue. However, 47 push ups in under 1 minute? YIKES.
I want to have a clever segue here about Air Force and Airports – but I just don’t have it in me today. At any rate, I read about Roam Fitness quite awhile ago and have been very interested in the progress in expanding to various airports. They are gyms that are in airports, complete with Lululemon gear you can rent or buy, post workout snacks, as well as showers. There have been so many times my flight has been delayed and it would have been AWESOME to be able to get a quick run or workout in. Sometimes pacing a rut into the ground in the airport just doesn’t cut it. I am hoping this catches on and opens in more and more airports!
My latest favorite snack is this banana bread from RachLMansfield. It is her paleo chocolate chip banana bread that is nut free. I obviously subbed out the sun butter for peanut butter – so mine is not nut free. But it is AWESOME! I used Enjoy Life chocolate chunks.
The boyfriend moved into my, now OUR (!), place this past weekend. Yes, the weekend that record high temps in San Francisco. Triple digits! And of course most buildings in the city have no AC.
But we got it done! We are a pretty good team (read: thank goodness John is strong and I am organized).
Cheese and crackers were all we could muster up the gumption for dinner on Sunday night. It tasted phenomenal wrapped up in a blanket with the AC blasting.
Part of the moving was done Saturday after my 22 mile long run. I tried to make sure my legs got some extra TLC throughout the weekend. I should get extra credit for being so active after a long run, right? Right. Glad you agree.
He has a CASPER dog bed – yes Casper, like the mattress, and he decides the cardboard makes a better place to hang out.
I finally got to try the new chocolate chip RX Bar flavor. I was surprised I didn’t like it more. I think peanut butter chocolate is my new favorite. Larabar chocolate chip cookie dough might be my favorite chocolate chip flavor bar of all time.
What is your favorite snack to take on the go?
Would you use a gym in an airport?
