Happy Saturday! I hope you are all having a great week. I spent yesterday traveling to Berlin, so didn’t post – but I thought I’d share some favorites from the past couple weeks.
The PB cups from the Run Fast Cook Fast Eat Slow cookbook at amazing. Sooo easy to make. I added some flaked sea salt on top for fun!
Still sticking with this toast combo. Whole wheat bread from Safeway’s bakery, avocado, Everything But the Bagel Seasoning, egg + spinach on one side. Peanut butter, banana & cinnamon on the other side.
In case you missed my Instagram stories, I had some excitement with my race day shoes. I ordered them a while back when Nike first released this color, when they arrived, I put them in the closet & planned to break them in right before my race. When I got them out, I realized that I’d been sent a women’s 9.5/men’s 8 instead of the the women’s 8/men’s 6.5 that fit me. I checked and the store and accidentally sent the wrong size, but didn’t have any of my size left in stock.
I immediately hopped on eBay and ordered a pair of size 6.5 for not too much more than retail. When they arrived I realized I had messed this one up and ordered a men’s size 5/women’s size 6.5.
I posted on Instagram what I was in search of & my friend Cate suggested I try The Loop Running Co in Austin. They had no shoes on their website, but I called and they miraculously had a pair. I paid for overnight shipping and they got to me just in time!!
The other 2 pairs of shoes found new homes as well. Gotta love the power of the internet.
Bennie in his little volunteer duds never fails to make my heart melt. We visit patients at the hospital & he has a special request to visit someone in the ICU last week. He’s used to the normal rhythm of the hospital, but I was a little worried the ICU would be overwhelming for him. I didn’t need to worry – He handled it like a champ and had a great time meeting everyone.
Treated myself to lunch at Dean & Deluca while in St. Helena for work. Salmon, kale salad & pesto pasta. YUM. If you’ve never been to a Dean & Deluca – it is like a really fancy grocery store mixed with a specialty store. They have everything you’d need for the most epic cheese & charcuterie plate there, along with a huge wine selection.
I downloaded some books for traveling recently & got some requests for my favorite running books:
- Born to run
- Deena Kastor’s new book – Let Your Mind Run
- Finding Ultra by Rich Roll
- My Life on the Run by Bart Yasso
View of the Brandenburg gate from yesterday, thanks for all the good luck wishes!
