After the race, I was showered and redressed around 3pm I think. That gave us the afternoon and evening to do some sightseeing. I was definitely tired, but sitting still usually makes me more stiff and sore – so the walking around was good.
We walked over to Checkpoint Charlie (next to the historic McDonald’s)….
From there we walked down the street away from the city and into an area that seemed more like a neighborhood.
There were a lot of good murals.
We ended the night at a brewery called BRLO with an outdoor seating area that reminded me of something straight out of Berkeley.
They had an ice cream stand in the garden area, so I definitely had a beer and ice cream – thankfully I was able to enjoy some of both before my usual post marathon stomach ache hit.
The next day I woke up STARVING.
We started the day by going to the Reichstag building. Normally you can walk up the stairs in the glass dome pictured behind John. Sadly it was closed for cleaning while we were there.
After the Reichstag we got tickets for the Hop On Hop Off buses. These are quickly becoming our favorite things in big cities. You can use it as a taxi and gives you the highlights.
The Berlin Wall East Side Gallery was one of my favorite things we did.
The Kennedy Museum was also really cool and something I loved.
Needed more ice cream.
Also needed tapas and wine.
We took a train to Prague in the evening and got there around 11pm.
All about Prague tomorrow!
