Saturday in Boston was a great day. Because we had gone to the expo on Friday, we didn’t need to get up and rush over there right away to try and beat the crowds. So we got up, I ran 5.5 miles on the Charles and checked out the Citgo sign. There were so many runners out! A goose chased me for just a second, but I don’t really blame him/her. They were probably getting quite irritated of everyone running through their park.
After I ran, we grabbed breakfast in our hotel, the Revere Hotel Boston Common. I had a bagel, some potatoes and some fruit. The hotel was great, but the restaurant left something to be desired.
After breakfast, it was time to PODCAST!! I have been listening to “How Was Your Run Today?” for over two years. When they asked me to come be a part of their podcast party in the Boston Public Library I about died with excitement.
Getting to talk to Peter & Bryan was in fact, just as much fun as it sounds when I listen to the podcasts. You can listen to my interview on anywhere podcasts are found – episode 127. I am the second guest interviewed.
After the podcast, we went down to Newbury street for lunch and Tracksmith. My friend Rhea brought her two friends over and we chatted and got caught up, which was so much fun. We had lunch at a place called CafeTeria with outdoor seating. I had a margarita pizza with chicken added. I ate all of it except for 2 slices.
The weather was still pretty nice, but starting to turn cold. Foreshadowing…
I got to meet my friend Anoush as well! Until now we have just been friends via the internet and texting.
We were going to take a bus back over to the expo and look around, since we hadn’t gotten to on Friday much. But it never came. So instead we walked back toward the finish line and our hotel. As we were walking, we noticed the Runner’s World pop up store and decided to go in.
I saw Deena Kastor’s newest book and picked up as I have been waiting for it to come out. And then I turned around, and there she was!! She was kind enough to sign my book and take a picture.
The finish line was still very much under construction as you can see behind me.
For dinner, we walked over to Faneul Hall marketplace.
We sat down to eat at place called Anthem kitchen. I decided to have a 26.2 brew before dinner and my mom and I shared some pretzels. I am not normally a big fan of beer, but I really like this one. I think it tastes delicious. But maybe, just maybe, they could put 26.2 on anything and I would think it tasted good. No one will ever know…
For dinner I had salmon, potatoes and asparagus. And then we headed back to the hotel for one last good night of sleep before Sunday night!!
