Shake out run – check.
Packed – check.
Currently – carb loading. Here we go! No backing out now HA!
I decided to do my shake out run today instead of Saturday. Marathoners seem 50/50 on wether they like to do the shake out run one or two days beforehand. As per usual, I felt slow and crappy on my shake out. This used to freak out me, but not anymore. Anyways, I’ve been having some tightness in my left hamstring/calf tie in, and tomorrow will be driving and lots of walking around the expo, so I want to just enjoy that and let my legs rest. Hence – Friday shake out.
My goal with my carb loading was not to have a day of just eating crap. I want to perform well, and fuel body with good foods. I took the calories I would normally eat, and put 75% of those towards carbohydrates. That means keeping protein on the low side and fat very low. That is kind of a challenge – because what goes better with carbs than fat! But I think I did a pretty good job. My other goal was/is to keep fiber lower, to discourage any tummy trouble.
Right after my run this morning after I had a peanut butter Clif Bar for a quick snack. I love Clif Bars, but hardly ever eat them because they are higher in carbs, so this was a great opportunity to enjoy! Even though I did not want to eat a bunch of crap, I also wanted to enjoy and have some yummy foods.
After my morning meetings, Bennie and I had a salt bagel with fat free cream cheese. I also got a coffee with non fat milk.
This dog. Love him more than words! Bennie shared some of the bagel too 🙂
I was feeling pretty full after my bagel, so I had lunch later than normal. I went to Chipotle and got rice, beans, fajita veggies, corn salsa and pico.
I had another peanut butter Clif Bar for my afternoon snack and made spaghetti for dinner.
Normally, I would have meatballs and cheese with the spaghetti, and maybe a side salad too. However, I was feeling full, and cheese & meatballs both have fat in them, so I nix those. Plus, I wanted to save room for dessert…..
Two small chocolate chip cookies and about a half cup of Breyer’s fat free ice cream with sugar free chocolate sauce on top. I may have had a glass of wine too. I want to sleep well tonight 🙂
Tomorrow I am just going to eat intuitively, and try to eat an extra big lunch and not be too full after dinner.
With love & carbs,
