Hopefully, as this is being sent out to the internet, I will be doing my long run. I have been struggling with keeping my feet happy lately – and am so grateful to have the ability to go see my Active Release Therapy doctor as needed. Mostly it is stiffness and/or cramping that comes from tight muscles. Sometimes rolling out can only do so much. (Side note – I LOVE the Roll Recovery R8!! – not sponsored at all, just love it.)
I normally do my long runs on Saturdays, but I changed plans this week. We are flying to Seattle tonight, and will be going out with friends late. So a long run on Saturday or Sunday would not have been very easy. Of course, this leaves me worrying about getting the run done, working, getting to airport and having the energy to stay out and socialize.
My game plan: nap on the plane, caffeine in the late afternoon, going slow with the adult beverages, since they always make me sleepy – long run or no, eating a good dinner.
I think marathon training is absolutely wonderful. Being in the thick of it now, I just love it. But it can sometimes take a toll on your social life. I try my best to balance it and keep everyone happy, and I don’t have the answers – except do what you can, when you can, and don’t be too hard on yourself.
I got my bike this week! I am so excited. I love it so much already. I’ve only gotten to take it for a few spins around the neighborhood, but am already feeling much more comfortable. Speaking of comfort – Definitely need bike shorts LOL. Those are coming in the mail – will report back.
Yes, I took the stickers off after I rode it around. (Side note – can we please be proud of my brow game? I got this new brow filler from Benefit and it is awesome! I have super thin eyebrows – so I like to fill them in a bit.)
When I picked up my bike, I did a fitting at the store.
They set me up on a trainer and helped make sure the seat and stem on the handlebars were the right size. It helped a lot. I’m not going to worry about doing clip in cleats just yet. Although, maybe I should do them now, so I never learn anything different?! Let me know in the comments if you have ever had any experience! Complete and TOTAL beginner here. I also got a bike trainer, which I am really excited about. I am going to love being able to ride my bike inside and watch TV during the winter months. I got one from CycleOps.
Some other things I am liking a lot this week:
Sparkly Soul Bands – I have been using the same one since last August I think. My mom picked it out at an expo and I just realized this week how much I love and use it, and how well it has held up. It isn’t gross (I just rinse it off), and hasn’t lost its stretch at all. My favorite are the thin, non-glitter ones.
This bra from Victoria’s Secret. It isn’t exactly the same as the one I have now, but it is pretty close. I hate how they are always changing the styles they have. By the time the bras I buy and love have worn out, they no longer make them. Tell me I am not alone! Anyway, mine has finally been washed so many times that its starting to pill (pilling = chaffing!), but they always do a good job with their sports bras.
This picture frame from Umbra. I found mine at the local container store. For $10, it is really cute and unique.
My friend Alie’s new Instagram account with the little llama I brought her from Peru! She is doing a roaming gnome take on the traveling llama + food pictures! What could be better?
