The week between Christmas and New Year’s is so odd. Some companies are closed completely, and if yours isn’t, it’s hard to get back in the groove for a short week. No one seems to want to commit to anything, or make plans. Even though I am definitely appreciating the extra time, it is like a lost week.
One thing I have been LOVING is that the gym is basically empty. People are probably traveling for the holidays and it is awesome having a little more room to feel like I can spread out, or not having to worry about hogging too many of the free weights at once.
My mom got me new slippers for Christmas. Slippers are kind of a tradition at Christmas in our family. She got me the ones I had before (I ruined the old pair with a chicken incident – long story), but picked out a new color and I LOVE THEM! I didn’t realize how much I missed having slippers to schlep around the house in. You can find them here (they are on sale!).
I got two of these giant peanut butter cups in my stocking. One of which I ate first thing on Christmas morning. And the other I had for dessert this week. I feel like a better person than me would have cut them in half and made them last. But I’m just not that worried about it. I put this one in the freezer for a couple hours first. It was a great decision.
I mentioned that John & I got Mexican train for Christmas, but I have to add it to my favorites this week. It was SUCH a fun game. We played with 4 people, but I think it would be really fun with 6 or 8 people too!
I had to treat myself to a Spicy Tuna Salad from Blue Barn after being out of town for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I could eat this salad every day (if it wasn’t so freakin expensive). Blue Barn sponsor me please!!!
Since I work from home when I am not out in meetings, and I don’t have a lot of meetings this week, I’ve pretty much been living in this outfit. Holiday Cap from Portland Gear (PGFRIEND saves you $), huge scarf from Lole that I got for Christmas that I LOVE, and my favorite Alo Yoga hoodie. Also if you don’t own these Alo Yoga lounge leggings, you need them.
Here’s a close up of the hat. It’s a wool type material and its so soft and cozy! Love the Oregon state detail in the P too, as always.
Last but not least, I got another Christmas list item that I love so so much. The Club Duffel from Tracksmith – and I can tell it is just going to get better with time.
I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions every year. Sometimes I’ll do ones like “save x amount of money in my retirement account” or “stop biting my nails.” But for the most part, if I decide I want to do to something, I start trying to do it right away.
Same goes for exercise and diet. If I want to change something with either of those, I will start working towards that as soon as I decide. I’d be lying if I said that getting a new gym bag didn’t make going to the gym just a little bit more fun though!
