You guys, I’m an aunt! Alie is one of my closest friends, and her perfect little Penelope Grace was born just a few days ago! I got to meet Baby P yesterday and hold her and OH she’s just so sweet!
Alie is already an amazing mommy! I can’t even begin to tell you how many tiny running shoes I’m going to buy Baby P.
Last weekend another of my besties turned 30!! This is the year a lot of my friend group is turning 30, and being that is it kind of the last milestone birthday for a while, it is a good excuse to celebrate!
For Brigid’s 30th she did a cooking class for all of her friends which was SO much fun. We made tapas, and I learned a lot and loved it. We made lamb “lollipops”, meatballs, patatas bravas, roasted cauliflower, shrimp and toast with toppings. So good!
I generally never see Eat Pastry in the grocery store, so when I do, I snag it. Edible cookie dough that is addictive! It’s perfect for after dinner when I just want a spoonful of something sweet.
Now that I am back to running a few miles here and there after recovering from Boston, I am getting a lot of use from the beautiful new Jaybird RUN Earth Day Colorway. 10% of the proceeds goes towards conserving open spaces. They are so so awesome!! I think neon is a neutral, so they are the perfect color for me 🙂
Speaking of getting out to run – I got out for my first run after Boston on Thursday and it felt amazing. Can you say endorphin high?
I have been getting quite a few questions about how I carry my phone when running.
I don’t like the style of the belt that sits around your hips, although I might try it again one of these days. It seems to look good on other people & my friend says the Nathan one is much better than other brands. When I’ve tried them in the past, they just feels like they are either too loose and bouncing, or too tight and creating a muffin top situation on me. Same with the little tiny belts. I used to use Armpocket cases, which I do really like. However I would end up with a tan line on one arm until the end of time, plus it does make that ONE spot on your upper arm sweaty and hot.
Most often, I wear a bra from Lululemon called the “pace perfect bra.” It has a pocket right between the shoulder blades for your phone. Seriously – I own 8 of them. The only thing I don’t 100% love about them is they have kind of a high neck, which can feel extra warm on hot days. Sadly, it looks like Lululemon stopped making them. Maybe I’ll email them and ask if they are going to bring back anything similar.
I did buy a Koala Clip, which is the next best thing. It is a little annoying to pull it off your bra and unzip when you want to get your phone out, but since I am not doing that all that often, it is a good option. Plus, the zipper keeps it safe and it is water resistant where the pace perfect bra is not, so I’d definitely recommend the Koala clip!
I saw this painting in a store yesterday. Too bad it was $495 or it would have come home with me. Doesn’t that doggie look like a stylized Bennie The Dog?
Also super a podcast called The Habitat from Gimlet. The episodes are about 30 mins long and they are about people living in an experimental habitat like scientists might eventually send to mars. I finished all but the last one in one day.
And lastly my friend, Sevy – aka, Kristen from The Closest Knit, is going to be here this weekend! I am so excited to run with her on Sunday. I love having a little more flexibility in my running at the moment. Miles, races, or rest for you guys this weekend?
