Christmas is almost here!!! I know I said I wouldn’t be posting again until I came back from Costa Rica – psyche! I wanted to post a quick training update before we leave TONIGHT.
In case you didn’t catch it – the title is from Elf, the greatest Christmas movie of all time.
Monday I did a speed workout on the treadmill. This work out, I decided on a pace goal that I did not know whether I could achieve. I did a Yasso 800 workout with a goal for the 800s of 3:15. One mile warm up at 8:30, with 800 x 3 at 3:15 each (800 recovery) and a one mile cool down for a total of 5 miles at a 7:58 average. I lifted legs after and felt surprisingly good about the whole workout. I expected my legs to more shot after the sprints.
Tuesday I didn’t run (even though I really wanted to). I’m still coming back from the marathon and I have to be patient. So I opted for 30 mins of cross training on the step mill and lifted chest and shoulders with some back thrown in there.
Tuesday evening I gave Bennie The Dog his Christmas present. He is going to stay with my mom & dad while we are in Costa Rica and I am going to miss him so much!!
Left: John surprised me with an ornament from the CIM!! I was so excited because I was a little sad I had not bought one. Pretty impressive he bought it without me noticing.
Right: I made us filets with my new grill. My old grill wouldn’t get quite hot enough to cook steak, so I love being able to make them now. Plus getting enough iron is so important when you are running and lifting.
Wednesday morning I ran a 10 mile tempo at 7:36 average. Not going to lie – this was TOUGH. I was happy with my pace even though it felt harder than it used to a month ago. Again – marathon recovery takes time and that’s ok. I was planning to lift biceps and triceps after, but my upper body was toast from Tuesday, so I called the ball after the run and stretching.
I hope you all have Happy Holidays!
