Happy Wednesday! We spent last weekend celebrating John for his birthday. We went to Hall Winery, in St. Helena, with his mom to do a tasting and have a picnic.
I’ve gotten more time in on the trails this summer than I have since I’ve started running and racing. I’m into it. It makes me really happy to start the day with views like this.
While we certainly don’t get the heat that other places do in the Bay Area, if its over 90 degrees the oven makes the house REALLY hot. So putting cookie sheets on the grill to roast vegetables has been a great addition to the rotation. The only caveat is you have to pay close attention to them if there is just one cookie sheet because they can go from roasted to completely blackened really quickly lol.
On Sunday for John’s birthday, we went to a favorite brunch spot in town with his family. M.H. Bread & Butter is owned by local ultra runner and all around badass, Devon Yanko & her husband. The fried egg sandwich with avocado is amazing. I also had Strawberry Mint kombucha which was so good.
John got the shakshuka which is awesome as well. I have tried making it at home once, and it just wasn’t the same.
My friend Saige posted a banana bread recipe that I made because I had a bunch of bananas get way too ripe. It was awesome!
- 3 banans
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 2/3 cup oat flour (I didn’t have this, so I just used regular flour)
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Sea salt to taste
- Bake at 350 for 50 mins
I’ve been wearing my Brave Like Gabe sweatshirt & wore it again yesterday in honor of her birthday. You can donate & order one here if you are interested.
