It seems that yesterday there was this thing on TV that people were really excited about? I took the opportunity to enjoy some snacks & a margarita on the couch. So nice of everyone to celebrate my new half marathon PR for me! In all seriousness, if you did watch the Super Bowl, and therefore the half time show, you should read this article. It is pretty funny! What were your favorite commercials? I liked the Amazon one with the dog ordering sausage & gravy. We always joke that Bennie would do that if he could talk to Alexa.
Here is how the week broke down –
Monday 1/28: 4 miles easy AM at 9:53 avg, 4.05 miles PM at 8:54 avg. Before the run, I went to the gym for lower body day 1.
4 miles easy PM at 8:59 average.
Tuesday 1/29: 6.05 miles easy at 9:22 avg after doing upper body day 1.
Wednesday 1/30: 2 miles warm up, 2 x 2 miles (first at 7:10-7:15, second at 7:00-7:05), with 3 mins easy between, 2 miles cool. 8.2 miles total at 8:09 avg. I didn’t really feel great for this workout, and was kind of disappointed in that because I had a race coming up for the weekend. But I’ve way too many crappy workouts turn into good races to worry too much about it.
Thursday 1/31: 7.01 miles easy at 9:01 avg w/ my friend Anna after doing lower body day 2. I was pretty tired, so I was really glad to have Anna to drag me along.
Friday 2/1: 5.1 miles easy at 9:26 avg after going to the gym for upper body day 2.
Saturday 2/2: 3 mile shake out around 9:01 avg.
Sunday 2/3: Kasier Half – did a short warm up & finished in 1:35:27 (7:17 avg pace), which was a PR! I’ll do a full race recap a little later this week.
51.13 miles for the week. Feeling good about that! It is really nice to have a break from running 18-20 miles on a lot of weekends, so I am glad to be taking a break from the marathon this Spring.
