Happy Monday! We spent the better part of yesterday packing up and driving over to my parent’s house in Chico. A big chunk of CA is going through wildfires, which is pretty scary to see. Thankfully, our home is ok. We have lost power though, and it looks like it may not kick back on until we leave for New York. As we both work from home, we decided to head up to my parent’s house. That way, there is Wifi, laundry, wine – and best of all, Bennie The Dog can stay with his most favorite people (my mom & dad) while we are in New York. We feel really lucky & hope they get the fires contained really soon.
Monday 10/21: 6.1 miles easy at 8:57 avg & strength.
I started last week in Seattle. I went up for work, and went up a day early to visit a friend. Monday morning, I drove into the city of Seattle and left my suitcase with the hotel. I ran around Seattle, then went back to the hotel and put on warmer clothes to walk around and find a place to work. I got a ham & cheese croissant from Pike Place Market, then worked until they had a room ready for me. Once they did, I did a 30 minute strength workout in the hotel gym.
Tuesday 10/22: 6.2 miles easy at 8:54 average. I did this in the morning before meetings and it sprinkled the whole time. Perfect Seattle day!
Wednesday 10/23: I knew I had a big track workout on this day, and doing it in downtown Seattle wasn’t going to be ideal. I researched ahead of time some tracks that *might* be open. So that morning, I took an Uber over to University of Washington, found the track – which was locked – but luckily I found an open gate at the back! It was super dark & cold – but got it done! 2 miles warm up, 10 x 800 @ 3:15 w/ 2 mins walk rest between each, 2 mile cool down. 3:13/3:18/3:14/3:13/3:12/3:12/3:16/3:14/3:15/3:19. Total of 9.01 miles at 7:59 avg. I was really happy with that.
Thursday 10/24: 6 miles easy at 10:15 average – I got to run with my friend Heather for this and it was so great to catch up! I forgot to take any photos though 🙁
Friday 10/25: 5 miles easy around downtown Tacoma – which had a really cool blown glass display!
Saturday 10/26: 12 miles easy 9:03.
I got home from my work trip around 9:30pm, so I took Saturday morning to sleep in and run when I felt like it. I knew it was likely the power would be cut out on Saturday afternoon, so I wanted to get any laundry done for New York before I left to go run.
Sunday 10/27: I was supposed to do 45 mins of cross training, but with no electricity for spin bikes, and getting preoccupied with driving over to Chico, I decided just to take a full rest day.
44.3 miles for the week.
Incredibly grateful to be safe & that our home is still safe. Thinking of those losing homes & being evacuated.
