Congratulations to everyone waking up a 2019 Chicago Marathon Finisher this morning! Whether it was your first marathon or your 50th (like @pavementrunner), whether you smashed your goal or it wasn’t your day, you finished a marathon. That should be celebrated!
I was on the road from 10/4 – 10/11, so doing 2 big weeks of training along with a lot of travel was definitely a little daunting. I am happy with what I was able to get done though.
Monday 10/7: 7.1 miles easy at 9:11 average. I did this in Florida where it was 95% humidity again. Gosh I don’t know how people who live there do it. It feels so much harder to breath than being at altitude!
Tuesday 10/8: 8.01 miles easy at 9:21 average. I did this in Chicago – well actually Rosemont. Our hotel was right by the O’Hare airport. I ran up and down a 2 mile stretch. The street light situation wasn’t great after 2 miles, and I felt a little stressed most of the time I was running, so I eventually decided to run inside the next day.
Wednesday 10/9: 2 miles warm up, 7 mile progression run 8/7:47/7:41/7:35/7:26/7:14/7:01, 2 mile cool down. 11 miles total at 8:15 average. I was pretty happy with this.
Thursday 10/10: 7.01 miles easy at 9:30 average. I got some good Netflix in while on the treadmill. I also did some strength.
Friday 10/11: 7.01 miles easy at 9:24 average. Another Netflix and treadmill day.
Saturday 10/12: 20 miles – first 10 easy, second 10 at marathon effort. I didn’t quite nail this. I ran with my friend Anna the first 10 miles, which was much needed after running solo and on the treadmill. For the last 10 miles, I felt a lot of the 950 ft of elevation gain, and the week of travel sinking in. A good effort, but I was a bit disappointed.
Sunday 10/13: 45 mins on the Peloton that I did NOT want to do lol.
60 miles for the week.
