Happy Monday everyone! First off – if you were running the Tokyo marathon, let me say I am so sorry to hear about the race being canceled for general runners. You can read one of the articles about that decision here. Runners will be allowed to register (and pay for) their entry again next year, but if you have been training for a marathon, and especially if it is your last star in the Abbott world marathon majors series, it would be an adjustment in your expectations. Obviously, everyone’s health and safety needs to come first, that is no question. I’m just saying I understand the disappointment too.
I’ll be curious to see how many people actually cancel their trip due to the race being cancelled. Hopefully those who do have trip insurance.
Last week I started off in Seattle. With the Pacific Northwest being a part of my territory for work (I am a Sales Manager for an insurance company), I will be traveling there quite a bit. I tend to prefer more frequent, shorter trips, over longer ones.
Monday 2/10: 6 miles easy at 9:28 average in Seattle. I did this in the evening since I had an early morning flight to get there.
Tuesday 2/11: 2 mile warm up, 15 x 1 min hard, 1 min easy on rolling hills, cool down. Total of 7.52 miles at 9:00 overall average. I didn’t feel like I was super successful in this workout, but it got done.
Wednesday 2/12: 5 miles easy at 9:35 on the treadmill and did a very quick strength workout after.
Thursday 2/13: 6.2 miles easy at 9:21 with my friend Anna.
Friday 2/14: 11.02 mile long run, all easy at 9:29 average.
Saturday 2/15: Rode Bruce, reorganized our closets, moved some furniture around – maybe not technically cross training, but exhausting nonetheless lol. And most importantly, I taught Bruce to bow. So cute!
Sunday 2/16: 5.06 miles easy at 9:42 average
40.8 miles for the week. I didn’t do a great job strength training this week, but I’m hoping to get a little more comfortable working that in with my travel schedule soon. I still haven’t signed up for any races yet either. We are planning our wedding and have a LOT of trips coming up, and it just feels like there are too many moving pieces to put a race on the calendar. I am trying to not feel too bad about that though. It will happen when I’m ready.
Have a good week everyone!
