Oh man, the weekend hang over is real this morning. Not from alcohol, just from racing, doing things and last night was a particularly rough night of sleep. I just pounded a cup of coffee and feel like I could take a nap while I wait for it to kick in.
But let’s talk about last week. Last week was such a great week! I had a fantastic quality workout and then got a half marathon PR on Saturday for my long run! For me, it is VERY difficult to run a half marathon PR while marathon training, so this was a huge confidence boost in my fitness. I stayed really on point with my nutrition. I definitely indulged on Saturday, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. The rest of the week I ate really well with a lot of protein and vegetables. Now if I could just get my shopping habits as in control as the rest of my life…
2/19 Monday – 8 miles easy in the morning at 9:17 average
Upper body focused circuit
3 miles easy in the afternoon at 9:13 average
2/20 Tuesday – 2 miles warm up, 5 mile cutdown starting at 7:40 & working down well (about 10 seconds per mile), 2 mile cool down. Actual paces: 7:40/7:31/7:20/7:10/7:00. Those paces make the OCD streak in me SO happy.
2/21 Wednesday – 7 miles easy at 9:22 average
- 3 rounds: 15 squats, 15 front squats, 15 deadlifts
- SS3X: 15 Romanian Split squats & 15 jump squats
I ended up abandoning this workout at this point because I was TIRED and the gym was full of people who were in bad moods. It was best for everyone that I leave.
2/22 Thursday – 3000 yards, 1:03:15, 2:06/100 yards
2/23 Friday – 6 miles easy at 9:15 average
- 3 rounds: 30 Russian twists, 20 toe touches, 30 second side plank each side, 10 push ups, 30 bicycles
- SS3X: 10 bent over barbell rows & 10 tricep kickbacks
- 3 rounds: 15 curtsy lunges, 15 single leg squats, 30 banded lateral steps
2/24 Saturday: 2 mile warm up at 9:36 average, half marathon race: first 8 miles at GMP (7:39/7:39/7:34/7:46/7:39/7:40/7:27/7:39), final 5 miles gradually cutting down to finish last mile as hard as you can (7:36/7:25/7:26/7:10/7:11), 2.34 mile cool down at 9:34 average. YAY!! This went really well and I was super happy about it.
