Happy Monday! This week wasn’t anything too exciting workout-wise, but I am starting to build up to consistent 50 mile weeks, so that feels really good.
Monday 2/4: I did a lower body focused strength training session. After I ran 4.01 miles easy at 8:46 average. Eating more food before I workout is definitely making a different in the weight room. Then in the evening I did another 4.01 miles easy PM at 8:50 average.
Sometimes I get a little extra hungry on double days 🙂 I always share with my buddy though.
Tuesday 2/5: I did an upper body workout and then ran 6 miles easy at 9:28 average pace.
Wednesday 2/6 was a workout day. 2 miles warm up up, 3 sets of:
- 4 mins at 10k effort (7:24/7:11/7:08)
- 90 sec easy
- 2 min at 5k effort (7:05/6:43/7:08)
- 90 sec easy
- 1 min at mile effort (7:03/6:24/6:20)
- 3 mins easy between sets
2 mile cool down. I was kind of annoyed with those paces, but was quickly reminded that the race from last Sunday was definitely still in my legs. It is also worth noting that while we know paces, our legs don’t! So I put in the effort, and that’s what counts. Total of 9 miles at 8:22 avg.
Thursday 2/7: I did a lower body workout and then ran 7.05 miles easy w/ Anna at 9:02 average. Always very glad to have some company by this point in the week.
Friday 2/8: I did an upper body workout and then 6.05 miles easy at 8:49. I was pretty happy with how good I felt.
Saturday 2/9: I drove to the city to run with my Arete teammates. I got out of the car and saw this security bot down by the ballpark, which made me feel like I hadn’t been to the city in a long time lol.
I did 15 miles all easy at 8:39 average. I took a Huma Gel at 7.5 miles and chatted with the ladies until they peeled off at around the same point.
I finished the last 7.5 miles solo and with no head phones. I love running with music, so I hadn’t run without in a long time. I took the opportunity to enjoy the city sights and sounds. And the weather ended up being perfect, although I definitely overdressed.
Sunday 2/10: I did 55 mins on my bike trainer and then some band exercises.
51.12 miles for the week!
