This was my last week of #funemployment before starting my job. It has been nice sleeping in and having more free time, but I’m really excited to start. I am posting this early because I will be flying to Chicago at zero dark thirty tomorrow morning for training for work!
Here is what my week of workouts looked like:
Monday: 3000 meter swim, straight up. So…confession – I do all my swims “froggie style” aka breast stroke. NO one else in the lap pool does that. They all do freestyle/front crawl and are so much faster than me. I struggle to get the breathing down for that stroke. I think I might take a swimming lesson haha!
As I was walking into the gym on Monday morning, there were a bunch of ducks in the parking lot! I thought it was an appropriate omen to start my day with a swim haha!
Tuesday: I biked for 20 minutes and then tried an ARC trainer for 40 minutes. The ARC trainer was pretty good. It is like an elliptical, but with less movement for your feet. After that I lifted back and abs.
Later that day I continued the workout by getting an enormous bag of shoes from Nordstrom 🙂
Wednesday I did a 1500 meter swim & biceps, triceps and core. My boyfriend wrote me a new lifting program, so it was fun to switch it up and try that.
Thursday was 60 minutes on the bike and legs. The new leg lifting day was a lot of fun.
Started with squats. Finished with squats between these two boxes. Not sure what this is called, but I put one foot on each box, then squat down until the kettle bell is below the boxes.
Friday was my “long run” day. I really wanted to push myself this day. I will be in Chicago all this upcoming week, so my workouts may not be as intense as they usually are. Plus, I have the time to workout for 4 hours now, so I might as well take advantage since it is something I enjoy so much. I did a 4000 meter swim (110 minutes) & 30 mile bike (two hours and 5 minutes). I had a banana before the swim and Jelly Belly Sports beans after the swim and before the bike (I like all the flavors). I’m also hoping that my endurance will stay up and returning to running won’t be too brutal.
Saturday I did 60 minutes on the bike and lifted chest. I also tried to stretch quite a bit because I know I will slack off this next week. I’m usually not good about stretching when I travel.
As far as food goes, I’m really sticking to my guns and eating when I’m hungry and eating more carbs and fat sources than I have in the past. I feel really good physically and my body is responding really well. Sometimes the mental block can be tough, but I’m always happy when I push past it.
I hope you all had a great week!
P.S. – I love this from Run, Selfie, Repeat.
