Happy Memorial Day! This past week I was in Arizona for work. It was fun and a good trip, but the days were definitely packed. Most days we were starting at 7:00-7:30, and finishing just in time for dinner. So that meant some early morning runs and not a lot of sleep. But that’s ok – work takes priority and I’m grateful to have a job I love.
I have been feeling a little burnt out on lifting weights lately, so I decided to take the opportunity to give myself a break for the week. There’s no point in pushing through a slump in something while also being exhausted and too busy for it. So I just decided to call it, I’m glad I did.
5/21 Monday – 7 miles easy on the treadmill before an early flight. 8:17 average. Started at 3:45am before my early morning flight.
5/22 Tuesday – 2 miles warm up, 10 x 200m at 6:34 a mile with 200m jog (accidentally did 11 – 6:31/6:13/6:34/6:21/6:34/6:03/6:05/6:23/6:18/5:58/6:09 in between, 2 miles cool. Total of 6.5 miles at 8:18 average. Felt really good. Started at 5am.
5/23 Wednesday – 6 miles easy at 8:52 average
5/24 Thursday – 5 miles easy at 8:35 average
5/25 Friday – 6 miles easy at 9:16 average. The meeting unexpectedly wrapped up a day early, so I got to fly home Thursday night. I felt SO tired on Friday, but so worth it to be home.
5/26 Saturday – 13.66 miles easy at 8:40 average with the Arete girls. We chatted the whole time and it was awesome.
5/27 Sunday – rest and we got to join John’s uncle on a boat ride to Angel Island with family friends.
We were very close to a whale which was cool! I see them from the bridge pretty often, but being in the water next to one was much different. The photo doesn’t do justice to how close we were.
44.1 miles for the week!
