Happy Monday! I had 2 blog posts typed up for last week, but we ended up having less cell service than I realized we would, so we are just going to start fresh this week! We spent the week in Taos, New Mexico. John’s best friend got married to his – now – wife! They are such a great couple it was a blast to spend the week with them and their family. I asked my coach to leave the week of training blank on our schedule because I didn’t know what I’d have time for. I got to run way more than I thought I would, which was great! Taos is at about 7000′, so definitely kept it easy and lighter on the miles based on that.
6/3/2019: This was the day before we left. I did 6 miles easy at 9:28 avg in the morning after lower body.
- S/GM/Lunge: 2 sets of 10 at 45lbs
- Tempo Squat
- Set 1: 70lbs 5
- Set 2: 80lbs 5
- Set 3: 114lbs 5 – no tempo
- Set 4: 105lbs 5
- Set 5: open no tempo
- Deadlifts: 3 sets of 10 at 70lbs
Then finished out the day with 4.26 miles easy in the afternoon at 8:57 avg.
Tuesday 6/4: travel day
Wednesday 6/5: 3 miles easy while camping in Taos (the first 1.5 miles was straight UP a mountain!). 2 mile hike after.
Thursday 6/6: 10.22 miles at 9:45 avg at Angel Fire – about 8500′. I felt really good and the weather was perfect.
Friday 6/7: 10 miles at 10:11 average at the Rift Valley trail in Taos. I thought I would feel better than I felt on Thursday because it was a lower elevation than Angel Fire, but there was more climbing that I realized & it was a little more technical.
Saturday 6/8: 6.5 miles at 10:29 average. I did this back at Angel Fire and it felt hard. I think the accumulation of not sleeping quite as much as normal & being so high up contributed. It was still a great run though.
Sunday 6/9: rest
I got around 41ish miles for the week! It was a great trip, and I’m happy to be home with my pup!
