Happy Monday! I hope you had a great holiday weekend. We spent the first part of the week in Sea Ranch with my parents – both John & I were still working, but it was great to work while looking at the ocean! You gotta love technology for that kind of thing – it is amazing what you can get done with no distractions and a good wifi connection. For the holiday weekend we came back home and kept it low key.
Monday 7/1: 4 miles easy with my Dad & 2 more solo for a total of 6 easy at 9:18 pace. There was no gym where we were, so I just did basic push ups and banded lateral steps. Which was totally fine by me – I was pretty sore from last week anyway.
Tuesday 7/2: 2 miles up, 7 x 1k (4:24/4:21/4:25/4:19/4:23/4:22/4:24), 2 miles cool – total of 8.32 miles at 8:12 avg. I moved my speed work up a day since my energy level felt good and I knew we’d be getting on the road early the next day to get home. Sea Ranch is right on the coast, so it is super windy there. The odd numbered reps were slightly uphill and into the wind, and the even numbers were slightly downhill and with the wind at my back. I also didn’t pack my speed work shoes (it seemed silly to bring 43624265 pairs of shoes for 3 days). Good workout overall even though the paces weren’t perfect.
Wednesday 7/3: 6.15 miles easy at 8:43 avg before hitting the road to go back home early.
Thursday 7/4: legs at the gym & 6.3 miles easy at 9:08 avg. We went to the fair for lunch to get hot dogs lol. We live within walking distance of the local fair – so that night we sat near the pool in our condo complex and watched the fireworks.
Friday 7/5: upper body at the gym & 6 miles easy at 9:23 avg. And I took Bennie to have some fun.
Saturday 7/6: 15.02 miles all easy at 8:26 avg. Felt really good & got breakfast tacos after.
Sunday 7/7: Rest day. And we got to celebrate my friend Alie’s birthday at a spa! Perfect rest day if you ask me.
47.8 miles for the week
