Race week! We did this week as a taper. No weights, easy runs, and lower miles (around 40 total).
Monday 7/22: 6.01 easy at 9:29 avg
Tuesday 7/23: 4 easy at 9:15 avg
Wednesday 7/24: 2 mile warm up, 6 x 60 secs uphill at 5k effort w/ jog down rest, 3 mins easy, then 1 mile HARD, 3 min easy, 5 x 20 sec HARD uphill with jog down rest, 2 mile cool. Total of 7.6 miles at 8:54 avg. This workout was a little bit of a comedy of errors. My watch and headphones were barely charged. I paused my watch for the easy running, started it when I stood at a stop light and took off for the mile with it paused again. But – the effort was there and that is what counts.
Thursday 7/25: 5.01 miles easy at 9:10 avg with my friend Anna on a new bike path.
Friday 7/26: 4.01 miles easy at 9:18 avg. I got to run 2 of these miles with my dad!
Saturday 7/27: Rest
Sunday 7/28: .58 mile warm up & 13.1 mile race at 7:21 avg per my watch – I think the official results show the time as a bit slower (#tangents) – but more to come from my race report. In short, it was a tough day at the office, but made better a fun day by my friends & loved ones.
