I started off the week last week traveling for work. Sunday night, I drove up to Monterey, then to San Luis Obispo, and then back home. It was a LOT of driving and I was worn out after, but it also made for some great beach running – and I ate well too. I got oysters Sunday night for dinner!
7/23 Monday: 7.01 miles easy AM at 9:25 on the beach! I like running on the packed sand. It feels so nice and soft and my legs are always grateful.
Check out the most beautiful breakfast I had after! I got too full to eat the potatoes, but those thick slices of bread were so good. The fluffy egg white omelette was one of the best I’ve ever had too.
After my meetings in Carmel, I grabbed lunch. Pesto turkey sandwich with a salad and a side of sweet potato fries. I ate about 10 of those French fries and it was perfect. A huge seagull might have snagged them off the table after haha.
Next I drove over to San Luis Obispo. After checking into my hotel and working, I drove over to Pismo Beach for 4 miles easy on a new beach at 8:53 average.
7/24 Tuesday: 9.18 miles easy at 9:13 average in San Luis Obispo on the Cal Poly campus. This was supposed to be 8 miles, but oh my goodness did I get lost. It’s a good thing I went to a small school! This huge tank is just outside their campus near the Veterans Museum. It is pretty cool to see up close.
7/25 Wednesday, back home: 2 mile warm up, on the track, 2 miles at MP (7:28/7:23), half mile easy, then 12 x 300 HARD (5:49/5:40/5:32/5:18/5:27/5:12/5:05/5:09/5:23/5:16/5:02/4:49), 100 meter walk rest, cool down. Total of 8.01 at 7:44 average. This workout was tough and I was SO excited about those paces! The track I like to go to is pretty special because it has a bike path next to it. So you can do your warm up & cool down (and in this case, marathon paced miles) on a flat straightaway without going crazy running in circles on the track.
7/26 Thursday: 6.4 miles easy at 9:36 average
35 mins strength
35 mins spin bike in the evening
7/27 Friday: 7.39 miles at 8:43. I did 4 by myself and the remainder with the Jaybird Crew for a pre-SF Marathon shake out.
Jaybird Sport asked me to take over their Instagram stories for the run – just in my natural habitat.
7/28 Saturday: 4 miles easy & bib pick up for the SF marathon – I did the first half.
7/29 Sunday: 2.02 mile warm up at 9:46 avearage, 13.1 race – 1:37:27, 7:26 average pace for a new PR! This was a marathon work out, first 8 miles at marathon pace, then cutting down. I ended up second in my age group and 11th overall woman!! At the San Francisco freaking (Half) Marathon! So pumped. It was a great way to end the week. Huge thank you to Jaybird Sport for being the best ear buds out there and sponsoring my entry.
